190th stakes winner for Coolmore's Fastnet Rock 

The Fasntet Rock (Danehill) - Galileo (Sadler's Wells) cross again comes to the fore on Thursday when the Hughie Morrison-trained Stay Alert (3 f ex Starfala by Galileo) won the Listed Abingdon Stakes (1m2f) at Newbury. After finishing second at Listed level last start, Stay Alert kept on to beat favourite Golden Lyra (Lope De Vega) by a length and provided her sire, Coolmore Australia's Fastnet Rock), with his 190th stakes winner. 

"I thought she was impressive and won with a bit in hand," said winning trainer Hughie Morrison.

"I think we'll have a look at Haydock if she's in good form and it's proper ground at Haydock ahead of the Lancashire Oaks.

"If that goes well then you might have a look at the Yorkshire Oaks and maybe even the St Leger – why not?"

Stay Alert is out of Group 2 placed Galileo mare Starfala who has produced five winners from as many foals to race including the Listed winner and dual Group 2 placed filly Star Rock - another daughter of Fastnet Rock. Stay Alert's second dam is Listed winner Farfala (Linamix), while this is also the family of Group 1 winners Fragrant Mix (Linamix) and Alpine Rose (Linamix). 

The victory was also the 27th stakes winner by Fastnet Rock out of a Galileo mare. Fastnet Rock's fee at Coolmore Australia this spring remains at $165,000 (inc GST) for the fourth consecutive year.
