Six-year-old, Riocorvo was an impressive and authoritative winner of Vichy's biggest race of the year, G3 Grand Prix de Vichy (2000m), recording a sixth career success. 

It was an even break by the six runners from the starting stalls. Diamond Vendôme, the eldest horse in the race at age seven, went straight to the lead and the 2019 winner extended his advantage down the back straight as the field continued to race in single file. They were covered by twleve lengths between first and last. 

The pace did not look that strong and the eventual winner, Riocorvo was settled in second, stalking the leader, two to three lengths behind the leader as they began the right-handed turn for home. Each continued to race off the inside running rail even on the turn, racing in a line the best part of four off the inside rail. The tempo was beginning to increase as they entered the home straight. 

Diamond Vendôme quickened, while there looked to be multiple challengers in behind. With 400m to go, Diamond Vendôme still had a two-length lead but gradually Gerald Mosse asked his mount for more and Riocorvo picked up quickly and dominantly sweeping past the pace setter at the 200m marker, showing a smart turn of foot. The large Vichy crowd witnessed an impressive winner of the 2022 G3 Grand Prix de Vichy (2000m) eased to win by three lengths. 

Sundoro was running on strongly to snatch second from Diamond Vendôme in the final strides. Kertez was not far behind the placegetters in fourth while G1 Saudi Cup winner, Emblem Road was disappointing to be fifth of six, only beating home Coeur Macen. 

Riocorvo is a lightly raced six-year-old with six victories and two placings from thirteen career outings. He made a winning debut at Madrid in Spain March 2019 before following up in December at Toulouse delivering his first French start. The son of Pastorius had a year and a half off before returning in June 2021 in Spain producing mixed efforts both in Spain and France. This year has been better, recording two strong results in Longchamp handicaps including winning the Class One Grand Handicap du Bois de Boulogne (2100m) in May and a second in Class Two company. 

Stallion, Pastorius stands at Haras de la Hetraie and was a top-class performer on the track winning the G1 German Derby and the 2013 G1 Prix Ganay (2100m).
