Sam King’s Horse Racing Tips Today

3 minute read

Sam King found a winner at Ffos Las last night, and he returns with three more selections on this wonderful Wednesday.

Our first selection comes from Bath and Saeed Bin Suroor has an eye-catching record at the Somerset venue.

The Newmarket-based handler has saddled five winners from his last eleven runners at Bath and Mountain Lake looks to hold decent claims in the BresBet: Back To Bookmaking Restricted Maiden Fillies' Stakes at 7.35.

Saeed Bin Suroor's filly was sent off the even-money favourite when making her debut at Wolverhampton in May but was far too green to do herself justice on that occasion. The daughter of Postponed relished the step up in trip when a keeping on third at Chepstow last month and she looks the type to continue progressing with racing.

The form of that Chepstow third is solid for the level with the now 85-rated winner absolutely bolting up in a Yarmouth handicap recently and she looks good value against Tom Clover's market leader with Harry Davies claiming 3lb.

Selection: Mountain Lake - General 9/4

Epsom hosts six races this evening and I'm finding it hard to get away from course specialist Marlay Park in the Betfred Challenge Cup August 12 Handicap at 8.00.

The likeable five-year-old is something of a personal favourite but ignoring that his chances at Epsom this evening look rock-solid.

Jim Boyle's gelding ran three times this season before returning to Epsom and unsurprisingly he produced his best effort of the campaign when third in a Class 2 course and distance handicap on Derby weekend.

A 1lb drop in the weights certainly does no harm for the son of Cable Bay and his course and distance record speaks for itself. Jim Boyle's runner has won three times and placed on five occasions from nine outings over track and trip and stall five should be perfect for Pat Cosgrave this evening.

He's back to racing off just 1lb above his last winning mark (came over course and distance) and I'm expecting him to go mighty close with conditions to suit.

Selection: Marlay Park - General 9/4

We head back to Bath for our third and final wager. The Latest Prices On bresbet.com "Confined" Handicap at 6.30 looks like a decent sprint for 0-80 company and I'm hopeful Swift Asset can come out on top.

Richard Hannon's three-year-old showed some smart form as a juvenile including a very good sixth in the Newbury Super Sprint having been drawn on the wrong side of the track. He was quite highly tried after in Group and Listed company and seemingly lost his way towards the end of his two-year-old campaign.

The son of Profitable started off his three-year-old season on a mark of 87 in a competitive Class 2 handicap at Newmarket and has duly found himself slip to a mark of 78 following a handful of moderate efforts. Richard Hannon's colt bounced back to form when runner-up to a progressive sort off this mark at Goodwood last-time-out and certainly looked as if a second career success was on the horizon.

The form of that recent Goodwood second took a boost when the third home scored at Windsor on Monday evening, and I'd be disappointed if Swift Asset wasn't going very close off the same mark of 78 with conditions looking as though they'll suit.

Selection: Swift Asset – General 5/2
