Young Group One winner Mighty Boss has died after a bout of colic.
The Mick Price-trained entire, a rising five-year-old, won two of his 17 career starts including the 2017 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) as a three-year-old defeating Kementari and Catchy.
The son of Not A Single Doubt was purchased by Price at the 2016 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale draft for $180,000 for owner Muzaffar Yaseen's Teeley Assets.
"It is terribly sad for Mr Yaseen and everyone at the stable to lose Mighty Boss to colic," Price reported on Twitter.
"He was a magnificent colt with a most unique personality - he will be sorely missed."
Mighty Boss was a half-brother to the stakes-placed Shiralee from the Encosta de Lago mare La Volta, a G1 Australian Oaks winner.
Polska, a daughter of La Volta, is the dam of G2 winners Catch A Fire and Seaburge.
