Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - 26th of October

3 minute read

Just the sole meeting in Singapore last weekend, with nine race races held at Kranji on Friday night.

Of the nine, three were on the polytrack (all 1000m), while the remaining six were on the turf, five of which were over 1400m.

The Leticia Dragon trained Nimble was the highest rated winner of the meeting with the son of Patronize successful in his Singapore debut.

Formerly trained by Stephen Miller in WA [Old Name: The Shoe], Nimble displayed good ability in his 10 starts, despite only winning once, which came on debut at Pinjarra.

He placed on a further three occasions and only started >$10 once.

Last seen in January at Bunbury over 1410m, Nimble was prepped up well for his Singapore debut, with two solid barrier trials.

His latest saw him successful, saluting by half a length under John Powell, returning decent time in the process (1:00.98).

As a result he was sent out the warm favourite ($3.80F) in the 1000m event and always appeared in firm control, tracking the speed in third.

Although taking the home turn wide, Nimble quickly ambled up to the lead and took over inside the 400m.

Showing a good turn of foot, he put a 1.5L on his rivals and while tiring late he held on to score by 0.8L.

While only a narrow margin, he ran decent clock and expect the form to stack right up.

In WA he was never tried short of 1200m and you suspect he could be better suited on turf as well.

When assessing his previous best form, he has close to three lengths up his sleeve and more wins appear in store for Dragon's new addition.

Only relatively lightly raced, he did a great job on Friday night and unlike some of the other imports we see, he has settled in well to his new surroundings and is quite promising.

Likely to be tested in tougher company at his next start, he appears more than capable of making the grade and would also appreciate getting out over further.

Always tricky when you don't know his opposition at his next start, however he is expected to measure right up.
