Aidan O'brien's Bondi Beach And Kingfisher 'Very Possible' For Melbourne Cup

Bondi Beach and Kingfisher could be Aidan O'Brien's first runners in the Emirates Melbourne Cup for seven years.

Irish St Leger hero Order Of St George is a third possible for the 'race that stops a nation' after leading Australian owner Lloyd Williams purchased shares in all three.

The trio will go into quarantine, although O'Brien revealed that Bondi Beach, the promoted Ladbrokes St Leger winner, and Ascot Gold Cup runner-up Kingfisher were the more likely to make the trip to Australia for the Flemington showpiece on November 3.

Speaking at Gowran Park, O'Brien said: "The three of them are possibles for the Melbourne Cup, obviously. They have to go into quarantine with us on Tuesday and they'll possibly go in anyway.

"It's looking very possible that Bondi Beach and Kingfisher will go and we have to make a final decision on Order Of St George.

"It's a very prestigious race and obviously a very hard race to win. Not many races stop a nation."

Though O'Brien has not had a Melbourne Cup runner since the stewards there questioned his three jockeys on their riding instructions in 2008, he did send out Adelaide to lift the Cox Plate last year.
