No Distance Doubts With Disclaimer

Trainer Peter Snowden may have doubts about pushing his imported stayer Disclaimer towards this year’s Melbourne Cup but there is no question the four-year-old has the pedigree to cope with the distance.

Snowden suggested the 2015 Melbourne Cup would be a more realistic goal for Disclaimer after the lightly-raced import won the G3 Newcastle Cup at Broadmeadow on September 18 for his first Australian success.

Disclaimer (Dansili x Novellara by Sadler’s Wells) added to his sire’s fine record in Australia when he became the first UK import to win for the Snowden stable.

Dansili has had 28 starters in Australia for 21 winners including six black type winners including G1 star Foreteller, Permit, Stipulate, Soft Sand and Trick Of Light.

He also has his sons Zoffany and Zacinto standing at stud in Australasia.

Disclaimer, who has already won five of his 17 starts, is one of 93 stakes winners by Dansili worldwide. SIgnificantly 12 of his black type winners are out of Sadler’s Wells mares.

Purchased at last year’s Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale for 180,000gns for his Australian owners led by well known Sydney owner and breeder Ross Visalli, Disclaimer is one of two winners from the Listed winner Novellara.

Novellara is from the unraced mare Modena (Roberto) who produced 11 winners from as many to race including the champions in Reams Of Verse (Nureyev) and Elamaamul (Diesis). She is also the grand dam of the multiple G1 winning classic winner Midday (Oasis Dream).
