High quality colt The Autumn Sun is now the winner of seven of his eight starts after taking out his fourth Group 1 victory here. Having his second run this preparation he settled back in seventh place in the nine-horse field, tracking a fast pace and was still conceding the leader (Miss Fabulass) at least 10 lengths nearing the home turn. He then put in a strong run, went to fourth at the 100m and kept finishing gamely to grab a narrow but impressive win. Fundamentalist tracked a strong pace, racing back in third place, dashed clear at the 300m and was only overhauled in the closing stages for (long head) second after running a bold race in a very smart effort. Nakeeta Jane, winner of last week's Surround Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) began well and settled back in fourth place. She went to third at the 200m and kept fighting on well to hold that position to the post. Dual Group 1-winning New Zealand colt Madison County settled at the tail of the nine-horse field and caught the eye running on late for (2.7 lengths) fourth. Vegadaze led early on before racing back in second place behind the new leader (Miss Fabulass), who then set a strong tempo. He went to second at the 200m and then battled on nicely for fifth, beaten four lengths in another honest performance.
