Emanating from South Africa, Glyn Schofield has made Down Under home with his family set up into Australian racing.
With major issues in South Africa, he made the move around 2008 and established a base in Sydney.
Bringing a lot of worldly racing experience, Schofield had had great successes from South Africa to Mauritius and from Singapore to Hong Kong.
In Australia, Schofield has ridden some elite horses – the best of them was Hay List during his many battles with the legend Black Caviar. Hay List was every bit deserved of his title challenger name having also won the Newmarket and Manikato under Glyn.
Boban was a particular favourite with a Chipping Norton and Epsom in Sydney, a Doomben 10,000 in Brisbane and a Memsie and Cantala Stakes in Melbourne on the board.
There was also a strong link to Godolphin for a period of time resulting in triumphs on Alizee and Kementari at the highest level.
In many races, Glyn has had the remarkable achievement of riding against his son Chad Schofield who had major victories in Australia and also now in a long riding stint in Hong Kong. A Cox Plate on Shamus Award his major highlight.
