AFL: Bombers continue to fly high

3 minute read

Essendon will be looking to keep the pressure on ladder-leaders Sydney, when they take on Richmond at the MCG on Saturday night.

The Bombers are looking strong after winning seven from 10 games this season, but they are still a big price at 17.00 to go on and win the grand final.

Saturday is shaping up to be a big day, with fellow top-four sides Geelong and Port Adelaide also in action.

Geelong entertain sixth-placed Greater Western Sydney in a massive game, while Port Adelaide travel to take on North Melbourne.

Carlton and Gold Coast, who both sit on 24 points, also clash at Marvel Stadium in the opening game of the day.

Carlton on the slide

. What: Carlton v Gold Coast
. Where: Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
. When: 13:45 (AEST), Saturday 25th May 2024
. How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel, Channel 7
. Odds: Carlton 1.44, Gold Coast 2.80

Carlton have lost three of the last four games to slip out of the top eight, and are in need of a victory against the Gold Coast.

The Suns also sit 6-4 for the season, but all six wins have come when they have been the home side, so a trip to Melbourne will be a tough test.

They smashed Geelong by 64 points last week, with Jack Lukosius booting five goals in the game.

He can be backed at 13.00 to boot the first goal of the game, while Carlton's Charlie Curnow is 7.00 to strike first.

Roos head to Hobart

. What: North Melbourne v Port Adelaide
. Where: Blundstone Arena, Hobart
. When: 13:45 (AEST), Saturday 25th May 2024
. How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel, Channel 7
. Odds: North Melbourne 8.50, Port Adelaide 1.07

Hobart's Blundstone Arena will be North Melbourne's home venue on Saturday, but it has not been a happy one in recent years.

They have won just two of the last 13 games at the Tasmania venue, and head there still looking for their first win of 2024.

Port Adelaide have won nine of the last 10 meetings between the two sides and can be backed at 4.25 to win this latest one by 73 points.

Geelong look to bounce back

. What: Geelong v Greater Western Sydney
. Where: GMHBA Stadium, Geelong
. When: 16:35 (AEST), Saturday 25th May 2024
. How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel, Channel 7
. Odds: Geelong 1.50, Greater Western Sydney 2.60

Geelong have suffered three defeats on the bounce, but the 64-point loss against the Gold Coast last week will have really stung.

The Cats have been hit hard by injury, but hope to have star forward Jeremy Cameron back in the side following concussion.

Cameron can be backed at 9.50 to mark his return with the first goal of the game.

GWS are also on the slide after losing four of the last five games, but are priced at 6.00 to bounce back and win by 1-12 points.

Bombers march on

. What: Richmond v Essendon
. Where: MCG, Melbourne
. When: 19:40 (AEST), Saturday 25th May 2024
. How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel, Channel 7
. Odds: Richmond 7.50, Essendon 1.09

Essendon head into the MCG clash on the back of three straight wins which has taken them to second place on the ladder.

Richmond on the other hand, have won just one game all season and have conceded over 100 points in each of the last three games.

Jake Stringer has been in great form for Essendon, and he will be out to pile more misery on to the Tigers.

Stringer has 19 goals so far this season and is priced at 10.00 to score the first of the game.

Essendon are 5.50 to win by 73+ points.
