AFL: Coleman Medal contenders 2024

3 minute read

11 rounds into the 2024 AFL season and the battle to win the Coleman Medal is hotting up nicely, with Charlie Curnow leading the way.

The Coleman Medal is awarded to the player that kicks most goals throughout the regular AFL season, and so far in 2024 it is a tight race.

Some players who were expected to be up there, have so far failed to perform in front of goal.

But that means others have stepped up to the plate, and just three goals separate the top four players in the standings.

Let's take a look at the latest Coleman Medal contenders.

Charlie Curnow

The Carlton forward has won the Coleman Medal in each of the last two seasons and is leading the way once again in 2024.

Curnow has booted 33 goals already and is priced at 2.75 to go on and win the Coleman Medal for a third season on the bounce.

He slotted 78 goals in 2023 and on current form looks on course to surpass that this season.

Team-mate Harry McKay, who won the Coleman Medal in 2021, has 25 goals for the season and is priced at 8.50 to come out on top.

Jesse Hogan

The Greater Western Sydney forward has been a revelation this season when kicking 31 goals so far.

GWS have made a solid start to the season, and that has been aided by the form of Hogan, who is 5.00 to go on and win the Coleman Medal.

Hogan has had his injury issues in the past, but hopefully they are now behind him and he can go and see the season out.

If so, he could be the player to pip Curnow and take the Coleman Medal in 2024.

Ben King

Gold Coast Suns are making a play for the top-eight in 2024 and that in part is down to the form of Ben King.

King is second in the Coleman Medal standings when kicking 32 goals so far this season.

The Suns will be hoping he stays fit and stays in good form as they chase a place in finals. King can be backed at 5.00 to win the Coleman Medal.

Jake Waterman

West Coast Eagles may be struggling at the wrong end of the ladder, but the same cannot be said of Jake Waterman.

A lot of the limelight has been shining on young gun Harley Reid in the west, but Waterman has been starring in front of goal.

Waterman has booted 30 goals so far this season and can be backed at 7.00 to go on and win the Coleman Medal.

Kyle Langford

Essendon are having a great season so far as they sit in second spot on the ladder, and the form of Kyle Langford has helped get them there.

Langford has kicked 28 goals this season and is a big price at 21.00 to win the Coleman Medal.

If the Bombers are still flying high later in the season, then Langford is sure to be still kicking goals.

Team-mate Jake Stringer, who has 23 goals this season, is an even bigger price at 81.00.
