The Sharks proved some of the doubters wrong when beating Melbourne Storm last week, but some are still not satisfied they have what it takes to go all the way.

Another win over the Roosters will silence a few more doubters, and they can be backed at 8.00 to win the grand final.

The Roosters are a shorter price at 6.50 to win the grand final despite trailing the Sharks by six points after just 10 games.

Sharks versus Roosters is one of the games of the Magic Round weekend and is sure to excite the fans that pack out Suncorp Stadium.

. When: 17:30 (AEST), Saturday 18th May 2024

Sharks wait on Hynes

Cronulla Sharks can do no more at the moment after winning six games on the bounce to take them to the top of the NRL ladder.

They have slipped to just one defeat this season and their success is being built on a strong defence that on average is conceding just 14 points per game.

The Sharks kept Melbourne Storm to 18 points last weekend, but they will be in for a massive test against the high-scoring Roosters.

Cronulla are also sweating on the fitness of star playmaker Nicho Hynes, who missed the Storm win with calf tightness.

However he has been named to play and the Sharks will be praying for no late setbacks.

A tight game looks to be on the cards and the Sharks can be backed at 3.50 to win by 1-12 points.

They do not have a great record at Suncorp Stadium, winning just one of the past seven games at the venue.

However they are a different side in 2024 and have a great chance of ending the hoodoo.

Roosters pile on the points

The Roosters have been scoring points for fun in recent weeks when beating the Dragons, Broncos and Warriors.

Trent Robinson's side put on 138 points over the three games and are averaging almost 30 points a game this season.

Sam Walker has been a revelation during the last three games and will be a big threat once again.

Not only has he been laying on try assists and kicking goals, the playmaker has also chipped in with a couple of tries of his own.

Walker can be backed at 4.25 to grab another try at anytime.

The Roosters will look to carry on in the same fashion as recent weeks and can be backed at 3.00 to win by 13+ points.
