NRL: Trbo injury rocks Sea Eagles

3 minute read

Manly Sea Eagles will attempt to snap a two-game losing streak when they take on Brisbane Broncos in the second game of the Magic Round on Friday night.

The Sea Eagles had been going well but two defeats on the spin have stopped them in their tracks, while they have also lost influential fullback Tom Trbojevic to injury.

They had been tipped as potential dark horses for the premiership, but at this rate, there is work to do to make the top eight.

Manly are priced at 1.82 to make it and play finals, and an upset win over the Broncos would go a long way towards restoring their belief.

The Broncos are just one point ahead of Manly on the ladder following an inconsistent start to the season.

Kevin Walters side are 4.50 to win the grand final, but that looks a long way off as they struggle with injuries and form.

Huge Trbo blow for Sea Eagles

Manly have been hit by the news that star fullback Tom Trbojevic will be missing for up to seven weeks after suffering a hamstring injury.

It has been suggested that Manly having a successful season depends on Trbo being fit and on the park, so his absence is massive.

Reuben Garrick has been in great form this campaign and is expected to slot into the No.1 jersey.

Garrick can be backed at 3.50 to grab a try at anytime in the game.

Jason Saab would usually be a huge threat but is missing through injury. However it is not all bad news as Haumole Olakau'atu returns to the side following suspension.

Recent history suggests Manly have it all to do to turn over the Broncos on their own patch.

Manly have not won at Suncorp Stadium in the last four attempts, while they have only won one out of four Magic Round games.

But surprises do happen and Manly are 9.00 to win by 1-5 points.

Broncos back to winning ways

The Broncos picked up a much-needed win last week when beating Parramatta by 16 points, and they need another one against the Sea Eagles.

Their record against them is good, winning three out of the four Magic Round encounters.

In 2023 they cruised to a 32-6 victory, and can be backed at 8.50 to win by 26-30 points on this occasion as well.

Selwyn Cobbo will be a big threat once again, and he enjoys playing against Manly.

The centre has scored six tries in his last two games against them, and is priced at 15.00 to score the first try, or 2.85 to score at anytime.

Brisbane are boosted by the return of Jock Madden following a pectoral injury and he will link up with Ezra Mam in the halves.
