While the Rebels continue to show they have made great progress this season, it's the Brumbies who are still leading the charge for the Australian teams in Super Rugby Pacific this year.

A highly-anticipated encounter awaits in Canberra for this one, as the Rebels again hope to show they can compete with currently the best club side the nation has to offer.

Brumbies picking up the pace

A side in impressive form at present, head coach Stephen Larkham will be pleased with how his squad are ticking along as the Super Rugby Pacific campaign reaches Round 14.

With nine wins in their last 10 matches and currently on a four-game winning streak, the Brumbies have hit their stride and sit in third place on the ladder, with seven points between themselves and the pace-setting Blues.

Beating last season's champions the Crusaders 31-24 at GIO Stadium last time out, the Brumbies turn their attentions back to fellow Australian opponents this week.

The Canberra outfit have a strong record against fellow Aussie sides, winning 11 of their last 12 games.

Winning eight of their last nine encounters with the Rebels, the Brumbies are understandably the 1.14 favourites to add another victory to the collection on Friday.

However, Larkham and his management team will have witnessed the progress made by the Rebels over recent months and won't be taking another for granted in this one.

Rebels gave Chiefs a scare

Losing 26-23 at home to last season's runners-up in the Chiefs, the Rebels once again made the competition sit up and take notice of their development.

Their improvements on the field come amid a backdrop of financial uncertainty on whether they will even be competing in Super Rugby Pacific next season.

The players have certainly not downed tools and showed resilience and quality in their heartbreaking defeat at the hands of the Chiefs.

Head coach Kevin Foote described it as a "special" occasion against the Hamilton outfit and his side now have an opportunity to test themselves against the best club side in Australia.

The Rebels are 5.50 to cause a major shock at GIO Stadium and land their sixth win of the campaign so far.

Looking at the Line market for Friday's game, the Rebels look to be worth considering at 1.91 with +14 points.

The Rebels are the sixth-highest point scorers in the competition, with the Brumbies scoring 28 more this term.

That should make for a tighter affair than the Line market suggests, as the Rebels once again look to show why they belong in this competition.
