When it comes to sport in Melbourne, it does not get much bigger than a Friday night clash between the Blues and Pies.

And, with both sides looking to go all the way and win the grand final in 2024, some extra spice can be added to this latest meeting.

Reigning premiers Collingwood look to have recovered from a poor start to the season and are priced at 10.00 to win back-to-back titles.

Carlton's strong start has stuttered in recent weeks as they have slipped to a couple of defeats, but they are still 7.50 to win the flag.

The MCG clash has all the ingredients to be a classic and another close battle looks to be on the cards.

Blues stutter after strong start

Carlton began the season with four straight wins, but two defeats in the last three games have stopped them in their tracks.

They bounced back well from a shock defeat to Adelaide, by beating Greater Western Sydney, only to lose at Geelong last weekend.

In fairness Geelong sit top of the ladder with seven wins from seven, but the Blues will still be disappointed to have lost by 13 points.

Geelong put 118 points on Carlton, while GWS and Adelaide also scored 98 and 100 points respectively.

That is an area that Carlton will need to improve on if they are to have a successful season and that is not lost on Michael Voss.

The head coach labelled the defending against Geelong as "unacceptable" and he will be expecting a response against Collingwood.

Carlton won by 17 points the last time the two sides met and they are priced at 6.00 to win by 13-24 on Friday night.

Charlie Curnow kicked another three goals against Geelong to take his tally for the season to 23.

The forward is 7.00 to kick the first goal of the game and is the same price to boot the last.

De Goey injury blow to hurt Pies

Collingwood had to settle for a very rare share of the points in a gripping Anzac Day clash against Essendon and will be keen to get back to winning ways.

The Pies had won the previous three games to get their season back on track after losing the opening three matches of the season.

They will have to do it without Jordan De Goey, however, after the gun midfielder pulled up sore with a groin injury.

De Goey picked up the niggle in the draw with the Bombers and was unable to pass a fitness test, with Tom Mitchell also absent due to a foot problem..

Midfielder Nick Daicos continues to shine when averaging 29.4 disposals a game this season and he can be backed at 1.87 to register 30+, while brother Josh is priced at 4.50 to do the same.
