Garry Frazer-trained mare Spright scored a smart first up win, indicating a return to her good form earlier in her career. She settled at the tail of the field, angled between runners at the 200m and then came with a strong late bid under her limit weight (53kg) to score by a long neck, going away. Dothraki was smartly away and settled outside the leader (Isorich), got to the front on straightening, fought off several challengers shortly afterwards only to be grabbed in the closing stages for second in a very good effort under his 59kg top weight. Bolero King was seventh early on, improved on passing the 800m but trapped wide without cover. He challenged (still deep) rounding the home turn and then fought on well for third after a difficult trip.
