We're beginning to sound like a broken record, with another disappointing effort last week where none of our legs bought up that elusive green tick we are all so desperate for.

We've widened our range this week, playing it safe by having all 3 of our legs to place, but it still brings up some lovely double figure odds for backers.

Randwick Race 6 Number 6 CONSCRIPT Place ($2.45, Ladbrokes)

We kick off at Randwick this weekend, and although the track will no doubt be heavy, our selection in Conscript has won 3-from-4 on rain-affected going. He was awkwardly away last start and settled near the tail of the field, where he usually finds himself out in front. He closed well though, returning a good figure to show he's picked up where he left off last campaign. He's a second-up winner in the past and he maps to either find the lead, or sit outside the leader. We're expecting him to finish in the placings and start us off as winners.

Caulfield Race 6 Number 7 SIGH Place ($2.00)

This lightly raced 3yo out of the P G Moody barn has had a promising start to her career scoring at both starts. Although missing the jump last time off a 300-day break, she found plenty over the concluding stages to attack the line and score. She strips fitter from that run and although we have her to place, looks a huge chance to make it 3/3.

Caulfield Race 7 Number 12 SOMERSET MAUGHAM - Place ($2.60)

This seven-year-old held ground well in a hot race first-up before getting back from a wide gate last time, racing wide throughout. He hit the line well there, drops in weight, draws ideally and should peak third up. Not a perennial winner but his figures are consistently good enough to be in the finish here.

Whack these all together, and up pops a kind $12.74 with Ladbrokes (Thursday 3pm).
