PRICE ADVANTAGE GALORE!

The feature of the features at the Valley and Rosehill was the price advantage on offer for Exchange punters with some surprise results, and some big edges found throughout another terrific early Spring day of racing.

Imperatriz upset Giga Kick to claim the McEwen in Melbourne, whilst Pinstriped delivered a minor surprise in the Feehan Stakes.

Melbourne Cup champ Gold Trip also resumed and ran a nice fourth at the Valley which will do his prep no harm.

Cylinder was the headline act at Rosehill with victory in the Run to the Rose whilst Golden Mile provided exactly that for punters with a whopping 51% price advantage if you don't mind!

We will take a look at a weekend that didn't have a Group 1, but showcased plenty of horses that seem destined to win them as they pop up over the Spring Carnival.

BEST BACKED WINNERS

As mentioned above, Cylinder was the star attraction in Sydney with an impressive win in the Run to the Rose.

The James Cummings runner (pictured) took 52% of the market share leading into his victory at $2.90, which still offered a minor price edge on the corporates post commission.

Charm Stone was the standout at the Valley, with his victory in the Atlantic Jewel Stakes a popular one with punters.

With nearly a million in the pot for that race, Charm Stone held over 40% of volume at the jump.

FIRMERS AND DRIFTERS

Punters got a Red Card in the last at Rosehill, with a significant firm losing and the drifter in the same race getting up!

Smashing Eagle was indeed smashed from $6.40 into $3.90 in the final 15 minutes of betting, with Red Card drifting from $2.44 out to $3.35 in the same time.

Red Card would secure the victory ahead of the firmer.

Significantly we saw Giga Kick (pictured) ease from $1.79 out to $2.20 just before the jump, with punters right to be cautious as the champ finished third.

Hail Manhattan was another unsuccessful firm, this time at Doomben, shortening from $7.40 to $4.20 before running unplaced.

On that same Doomben card we had Galifanakis shorten from $2.52 into $1.76 before losing in Race 2.

Continuing a tough day for firmers was Zapateo at Rosehill in Race 6 who shortened from $2.76 into $2 before running third.

PRICE ADVANTAGE

It was a huge day for price advantages, and particularly in the features across both Melbourne and Sydney.

Young Werther's victory in Race 7 at the Valley saw a 17% advantage after commission, or what would equate to $23 more in the pocket for $10 bet on the nose.

Imperatriz (pictured) win in the McEwen saw a 13% edge over the corporates, whilst Pinstriped stole the show in the Feehan with a 33% post commission edge! ($24 advanage for a $10 outlay).

At Rosehill Sunshine in Paris got things going in Race 6 with a 19% edge, Cylinder kept it going with 9% and Golden Mile blew it away with 51%!! ($38 edge for the $10 outlay).

Even Red Card in the last who we mentioned earlier gave a 22% edge courtesy of the ill judged drift!

For the big price blowouts it is also worth mentioning Lord Vladivostok at Morphettville who's $60 victory dwarfed the average corporate price of $37!

So that's $230 more in the pocket!
