bet365's Pick 6 Challenge is back with $50,000 up for grabs on New Year's day

Leading bookmaker bet365 are putting $50,000 on the line for any logged-in member who correctly selects the winners of six specified races across the Flemington and Canterbury cards on New Year's day. There are also consolation prize pools of $10,000 to be split amongst those who tip five winners and $5,000 for those who 'only' pick four.

The six featured races are outlined below with the R&S team providing pre-race previews to give you an early leg-up.

Flemington Race 5 - 2024 Stud and Stable Staff Awards @ 3.40pm - 1800m

Tricky race. Divine Purpose (11) struggled when well supported at Ballarat but the conditions were tough there and the first up run at Caulfield was very good. She showed good staying promise last time in and on firmer footing expect she bounces back. Texas Tea (8) was out of the money when resuming from a spell last start over 1400m at Sandown-Lakeside, beaten 4 lengths. The rise in trip should assist greatly here. Respect. Dublin Journal (10) was a smart winner when last seen over 2000m at Caulfield. Touch harder here but is in form and can win again. Vasmee (2) doesn't win out of turn but was good over 2000m last time and prefer him slightly back in trip here. Aramco (9) should be ready to peak third up.

Canterbury Race 4 - James Squire Handicap @ 4.40pm - 1250m

Group 3 placegetter Amati (3) resumes after having mixed success last time in. This trip is short of her best but has won this course and distance. Not asked to do much when fourth in a recent 900m trial at Rosehill on December 18. Look for her winding up late. Fangela (4) consistent gelding with fitness on his side. Demolished a handy field with a slick win over 1200m at Canberra three-and-a-half weeks ago. Goes well this distance and gets in light with the claim. Hard to hold out. One Destiny (5) stable in form and this gelding is racing in a rich vein of form. Sat on the speed with the 60.5kg when a tenacious winner over 1200m at this track on December 15. Looks up to this class and can win again. Castillian (6) drifted back to last on the turn when resuming with an even sixth over 1100m at Randwick on December 16. Has sound second-up figures and look for him late again.

Flemington Race 7 - Chester Manifold Stakes @ 5.00pm - 1400m

Unusual Culture (3) improved at the second run back from a spell last start when second over 1400m in the G3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes at Caulfield, beaten 0.8 lengths. Looks ready to peak here third up, she just needs a touch of luck early from the wide gate. Pascero (4) has won two of his past three, too smart again at Caulfield when last seen. Deserves a crack at this level. Struck By (5) is a handy type over from Adelaide, winning at listed level when last seen. Will give a big sight on speed. Validated (7) also comes over the border in good form. 1400m is a slight query but he'll be running on. Crosshaven (2) likes this track and trip and can improve.

Canterbury Race 5 - Schweppes Handicap @ 5.20pm - 1550m

Utopian Wine (9) is a promising Waller filly heading in the right direction. Up in trip when improved sharply second-up scoring as favourite over 1600m at Gosford on December 21. Backs-up quickly and looks well placed for this. Bangetta (11) Hellbent filly at her top now fourth-up and won two of her three starts this time in. Had plenty up the sleeve at latest and Dylan Gibbons sticks. Hellfire Express (3) Neasham-trained gelding chasing a hat-trick. Up in grade today after winning over 1400m at Tuncurry on December 11. Maps well again with the claim. This Is The Moment (8) looks to have come back much stronger this time in and near his peak now after finishing second over 1400m at Kembla Grange on December 9. Has solid claims.

Flemington Race 8 - George Watson Handicap @ 5.40pm - 1400m

Bel Air (2) is bursting to win another race, running second at his past three starts. He's been beaten narrow margins in all of them and finds a very similar race here. D Lane takes back over and with any luck he can break through. Helix (5) was better at Caulfield last time out. This is his best trip and his best figures measure up well. If he slots in early he can win. Call Him Iggy (8) has won both starts to date and looks to have a nice future. Harder here but looks more than capable of measuring up with natural improvement. Tasman Park (3) continues to race well. Racked up another placing at Caulfield last time and he should be in the finish again. Nijiko (11) wasn't far away in a stronger race last time and can win.

Canterbury Race 6 - The Agency Real Estate Handicap @ 6.00pm - 1900m

Ring Ahoy (6) win record hardly excites but looks desperately close to a win. Worth noting Rawiller rides here after going under narrowly when a head second over 1900m at this track on December 15. Go close. Venetian Blue (7) third-up for this and looking for the 1900m now after running a gritty sixth over 1550m at this track on December 15. Will hold a forward position and take catching. Brynner (5) racing well this time in and has a good record this track and trip. Got out late when third over 1900m at this track on December 15. Has sound each way prospects. Yankee Hussel (1) tough mare who relished the extra ground when a dominant 1.75 len victory at Gosford over 2100m on December 7. Pay to follow now she's found winning form.
