Launceston Night Racing - Race by Race Preview

It's Listed Launceston Guineas night and the R&S team bring you their tips for tonight's meeting.

Race 1: Ladbrokes Launceston Cup 28th February Maiden @ 5.56pm - 1100m

Loyalty Blues (3) has made a bright start to his career, denied narrowly in both starts. Strips fitter third up and looks ready to fire. Miss Chica Mala (6) finds the maiden win elusive but it certainly hasn't been without trying. Plenty to like about how she attacked the line last start at Hobart. Anticipate her to be doing much of the same again. Whats New Pussycat (11) is capable of much better than her latest outing suggests. Sigrid Carr sticking is a positive. Don't dismiss.

Race 2: Happy Bucks Day Tom Bennett Maiden @ 6.27pm - 1400m

Bankrollbenny (6) finds it tough to break the ice but has produced solid efforts in all three runs back. Strips fitter again and is drawn well. Only needs to replicate precious form to be getting involved in the finish. Ada Way (1) has turned into quite the bridesmaid of late, finishing second in his last four starts. Rates highly but just needs to find that winning blow. Need To Think (12) knuckled down strongly to finish second last start on syntho at Devonport. Drawn low and is a big chance to break through if they can utilise the gate. Miss Tanzanite (9) only warmed to her task late last start at Hobart when picking up ground over the concluding stages to finish seventh. The booking of Craig Newitt is a good push for her chances. Don't dismiss.

Race 3: Ladbroke It! Maiden @ 7.00pm - 1400m

Noxious (8) has improved with each run in this campaign, most recently closing off strongly into a narrow second at Hobart. Should be nearing peak now and is a leading contender. Fiorente De Legend (10) was denied narrowly of getting off the mark here last start. Open to further improvement and is expected to be taking the strongest strides late. Rowdy Girl (9) gave a sight latest at Hobart but faded close to the line to finish fourth. Has the early speed to cross from out wide and is among the key chances. Lightmeupjazz (11) showed early speed from an outside draw last start and raced on the pace before boxing on well to finish second, beaten a head at Devonport Synthetic. Similar set up and is capable of playing a major role.

Race 4: Happy Australia Day from the TTC Maiden/Class 1 @ 7.30pm - 1600m

Tricky race to assess. Risist Capture (8) comes into this third-up and ready to peak with Jason Maskiell in the saddle. Drawn ideally this time and the drop back to the mile isn't an issue. Still looks to have improvement to come and can get the job done. Ralph The Rocket (3) ran over the top to win on Cup day at Devonport, shedding the maiden tag in good time. The 3kg claim comes in handy and further improvement is expected third-up. Should make his presence felt. Li'l Hail Mary (6) shed the maiden tag over 1400m here on January 5th, running on from midfield to score. The barrier is an obvious niggle, but trust Darmanin to give her every chance. He strikes at 20% when riding for the Ryan barn and she'll be about the finish. Luvher (11) has claims off her latest effort at Devonport and is worth including. Storm Giver (2) has been around the mark of late and is not to be discounted.

Race 5: Cup Eve Lunch at Cataract on Paterson Benchmark 60 Handicap @ 8.00pm - 1200m

Rubbleonthedouble (3) stuck on well enough over 1100m first-up and should enjoy the slight rise in trip this time. He's nicely weighted after the 3kg claim and is sure to be handy from an inside alley. Can improve second-up and be in the finish again. Gallant Warriors (4) resumed in good order when narrowly beaten, with that form tying in. The wide draw is a little concern, but Maskiell replaces the apprentice hoop and he's a second-up winner previously. Key player. Sweetsop (10) ran on well to just miss at Devonport and will be flashing late once again. Kaytee Valiente (8) should be at his top third-up and draws a kind barrier today. Won't be far away.

Race 6: Kevin Sharkie Launceston Guineas @ 8.30pm - 2100m

Macy Moon (5) led and stuck on well last start over 2000m at Flemington, beaten a long neck into third. Progressive gelding who looks nicely placed and is likely to take plenty of stopping. Bold Soul (1) is a promising type still in his first campaign but is off to a great start to his career, yet to miss a place. Already a two time winner including last start when scoring by a neck over 2000m at Flemington. Key chance. Motorace (2) lifted strongly to score last time with half a length to spare over 2025m at Cranbourne, making it two wins in succession. Kept up to the mark with a trial win since. Go well. Kaboom Kaboom (7) is an each way player.

Race 7: Ladbrokes Stakes @ 9.00pm - 1200m

First Accused (3) in good form having scored at his most recent appearance, getting home by a head over 1600m in the Listed Tasmanian Stakes at Hobart. Back in trip but has a good record at this distance. Big chance again. Indispensable (4) produced a good effort for a Listed win over 1400m here two back then chased First Accused when beaten a neck into third last time. Major player. Geegees Gemstone (9) is hard to knock having landed his fourth win in a row when he scored last start by 2.3 lengths at Hobart over 1100m. Has a terrific record here with four wins and a placing from five starts. Must respect. Turk Warrior (1) hasn't been far away lately and races well third up so can peak.

Race 8: Kreglinger Corporate Marquee Cup Day Benchmark 76 Handicap @ 9.30pm - 1400m

Stone Cold Stunner (5) put up a poor one on paper two back but on closer inspection her rating held right up in the tougher company and she got straight back to winning ways back in the right class last time. This is another winnable race and there is no reason to think that she can't keep the ball rolling. General Assembly (4) was much two good here last time and must have claims on the back of that performance. Another last start winner is Nicco The Greek (6) who stayed on well and caught the eye at Hobart. Goes into the mix with a freshened Sharma's Last (2).

Race 9: SEN Punters Marquee Cup Day Benchmark 64 Handicap @ 10.00pm - 2100m

Reward For Rosie (7) rates to win this. Record at the trip is terrific and she is drawn to be bang there from the outset. Takes a good one to get past her from the right position in running. Trip can also suit Conumdrum (3). Lone try was inconclusive, as was last start when worked up pre race and never in the right spot in running. Back to the trials and won nicely since. The Ashy Boy run two back is great form for this. Think that pair hold the aces. Vintage Diesel (1) has been right around the mark of late and should run another honest race. Respect Page (4) and Kay Oh Ell (6).
