WARWICK FARM December 16

Inside Grass; Soft 5

15 Heats – 4 x 1205m (2 Open; 2 Maiden); 3 x 814m (3 Open); 4 x 809m (2 2YO; 2 Maiden); 4 x 804m (4 Maiden)

A good session for the Mark Newnham and Matt Dunn stables with their runners winning seven of the 15 heats.

KING DAVISO (Mark Newnham): It was handlebars down from the jump by this unraced Animal Kingdom gelding in his maiden heat over 1205m. Having his second trial, he opened up a big lead after 200m and Tyler Schiller kept him running at a good speed, resulting in the 3YO posting the fastest time in the four heats over the distance (72.17; 35.70). He won the trial by almost eight lengths in a big improvement on the way he performed in his first trial. Judgement reserved but it will be interesting to see how he performs on debut.

TICKI TICK TICK (Mark Newnham): There were faster trials at this session but this unraced Hinchinbrook filly made a good impression winning her maiden heat over 809m (47.25; 33.60). She travelled sweetly and was always in control, winning by a soft 1.27 lengths in her best result in four trials.

MISS SHEAF, an unraced stablemate of TICK TICK TICK, showed a lot more toe to clock the fastest time in the 809m heats (46.92; 33.49) in her second trial. She is a racy Choisir filly with good prospects in a suitable short course maiden.

The three open heats over 814m were won by NIKHOLI BEAGLE (47.94; 33.42); MISS BALTIMORE (47.80; 33.80) and TWITCH (48.12; 33.61). Each gets a pass mark but there was nothing special about their performances. There were a couple of nice efforts in these heats from PER IVY, AMUNGEE, ART OF EXCELLENCE, INVINCIANO and LAURE ME IN.

The Bjorn Baker-trained O'TYCOON, a Written Tycoon colt having his first trial, recorded the fastest time in the two 2YO heats over 809m (47.50; 34.07). He looks a readymade runner with a good effort from the runner-up SNITCAT adding more merit to the form in this heat. The clock says it all as O'TYCOON's time and sectionals were much faster than the other 2YO heat won by the Invader gelding VADERZAN (48.78; 34.47).

The 804m heats for maidens saw comparable quick performances by the winners IGGY (46.84; 33.45); THE ROCKWELL SCALE (46.67; 33.21) and GIANT CHAMELEON (46.52; 33.28).
