WYONG June 29

Course Proper; Soft 6

16 Heats – 1 x 1200m (Open); 5 x 1000m (2 Open; 1 2YO; 2 Maiden); 10 x 845m (3 Open; 5 2YO; 2 Maiden)

Standard provincial set of trials but Godolphin took the opportunity to send a couple of nice rising 3YOs with city prospects.

They included the good filly TROACH working easily within herself to win the fastest 2YO heat over 845m (51.44) and nice work by SPACEWALK to finish third in his 845m heat.

The fastest open heat over 845m was won by MUCH MUCH BETTER (51.21) where the easy second by the promising QUICK TEMPO was one of the best trials of the session.

Open heat winner CREAM RISES set the time standard in the 1000m trials (59.94) while maidens with good prospects include DIAMOND DIESEL, WILLINGA FREEFALL and ZENTI.

RANDWICK June 28

A Grass; Soft 6

12 Heats – 6 x 1050m (1 Open; 3 2YO; 2 Maiden); 6 x 736m (1 Open; 4 2YO; 1 3YO)

A couple of nice winter winners should emerge from this session.

BUNDCHEN (Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott): This rising 4YO by I Am Invincible has had a long break since she won two races on the bounce at Nowra last winter. She is set to make up for lost time as she worked well within herself to win her 736m heat (44.10; 34.05), impressing with the way she travelled widest before rounding them up under the quietest of rides from Nash Rawiller. She had plenty in reserve extending her margin to 1.5 lengths in the last 50 metres.

HELL I AM (John O'Shea): This Hellbent youngster has been well fancied in his three career starts that have produced just the one placing but I suggest the best is still ahead of him after he stamped his class on his 736m heat in fast time (43.72; 33.39). Hugh Bowman was happy to sit wide and three lengths off the leaders before calling on the gelding to go up a gear and sprint past them with purpose, stretching out easily over the last 200m to win going away by 2.5 lengths.

TWILIGHT AFFAIR (Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott): This rising 5YO mare has had only three starts for one provincial win but should add to that record on the form she displayed finishing a close second in the fastest 736m heat (43.69; 33.97) won by the sharp short course sprinter LEO. Tim Clark took hold from the start and sat widest around the turn before allowing the smooth striding mare to work into it from the 200m. Her surge to take two lengths off the winner in the last 50 metres was impressive, more so her strong work through and after the line. Could be a quick climber through the classes when she resumes racing.

NOTED TRIALS

XX Bundchen; Hell I Am; Twilight Affair

X Athletica; California Touch; Crafty Eagle; Forzanini; Leo; Seductive; Sports Legend; Surf On Turf; Nipotino
