Chris Scholtz reviews Sydney and provincial barrier trials at Newcastle (June 5) and Rosehill (June 6).

The 2YO heats created the most interest with the results certain to be a reliable reference to late season juvenile races.

The fastest of the six 2YO heats over 900m was won by the $1.35 million colt ADRONICUS, an unraced son of I Am Invincible having his first trial outing for Peter and Paul Snowden. He is a well-built colt with plenty of strength and did all that was required to win his heat with something in hand (54.61; 35.02).

However the heat winner that really made an impression was Godolphin's blueblood filly SHAKEN, another I Am Invincible product from the G1 winner Earthquake.

She didn't run to expectations in her first outing earlier in the season but looked a readymade winner letting down impressively from off the pace and running clear under a soft ride to win her heat by almost 1.5 lengths in fast time (54.74; 34.67).

Quality mare NORWEGIAN BLISS failed to come up in two starts earlier this year but expect her to return with a vengeance after a sparkling trial win at this session.

The Nathan Doyle-trained 5YO won her first seven starts and you can expect her to add to that tally in her coming campaign after she cruised through her 1000m heat in fast time.

She led easily under no pressure and responded well over the last 200m, running out an unextended winner by a good margin while posting easily the fastest time in the four heats over 1000m, a feature being her fast last 600m (60.16; 32.71).
