CANTERBURY June 26

Course Proper; Soft 7

18 Heats – 3 x 1100m (3 Open); 5 x 905m (4 Open; 1 2YO); 5 x 900m (5 2YO); 5 x 898m (3 2YO; 2 Maiden)

It was a good morning for Godolphin with the blue runners figuring prominently in many heats.

DRAGONSTONE (Joseph Pride): Smart sprinter showed he is in good form to continue his winter campaign with a stylish win the fastest trial of the morning. He was quietly ridden at the rear before coming across heels at the 300m and sprinting home over the top of his rivals in his 905m heat (55.02; 34.31) with something in reserve

EXPLORING (James Cummings): Not the fastest 2YO winner of the morning but a lot to like about the way she went through her gears in her 900m heat (56.01; 34.93). She went head and head in the lead with a pacy runner before extending easily at the 300m and running smoothly to the line for a strong win under no great pressure.

Apart from Exploring the Godolphin stable also won trials with INGRATIATING, MANNEQUIN and DIABELLI and would have been pleased with the solid efforts by BRIGANTINE; TROACH, LOS PADRES, STANISLAUS and HANAU in their heats.

VINDICATION was a big winner of his 905m heat, doing it easily to put six lengths on his rival in good time (55.86; 34.28). With nine 2YO heats there was plenty to take in with noted efforts from the heat winners MANNEQUIN, SHEHASATTITUDE, FICKLE, HE"S ALL STYLE, RAF ATTACK and UNDIVIDED.

Annabel Neasham's classy 3YO sprinter SWEET RIDE won the fastest of the three 1100m heats (67.92; 3.538) with good speed from the front with BRIGANTINE and TAJNEED taking the eye with their work behind him.

ROSEHILL June 20

A Grass; Good 4

10 Heats – 3 x 1030m (2 Open; 1 2YO); 7 x 900m (3 Open; 4 2YO)

A set where the 2YO heats were full of promising efforts from youngsters set to make their mark late in the season.

DRACO (Tim Martin): Former top metropolitan trainer has his hands on a good rising 3YO in this unraced Deep Field gelding. Having his second trial he impressed to work strongly to the line from off the pace to win the fastest of the seven 900m heats (54.26; 35.12) with his best work past the post as he got into full stride. Expect he will be placed to advantage.

CABALLO (Chris Waller): Hard to miss the excellent trial by this unraced I Am Invincible colt finishing fourth in his 900m heat won by the smart ROCKABILLY REBEL (54.79; 35.49). He was 10 lengths of the lead at the 500m and really took the eye with his work over the last 200m as he ran to the line under a strong hold from Kerrin McEvoy to be beaten just over two lengths. This was his first trial since February and expect he holds plenty of scope for improvement.

LUNA FIELD (Bjorn Baker): Another youngster by Deep Field with bright prospects after a soft win in his 900m heat (54.77; 35.26) where he led comfortably and always had the chasers well covered. He has now won three of his four trials since November and should take this form to the races.

Noted speedster MALKOVICH provided the highlight of the session with his seven lengths win in an open heat over 1000m.

Back from a Brisbane failure early in the month, he was too fast for his rivals cruising through his heat in good time (46.94; 32.82) without ever coming off the bit.

Several 2YO heat winners look capable with the effort of first time trialler SUPER MUSIC, a gelding by US Navy Flag, full of promise judging by the way he ran past the leaders and extended smoothly for a soft win in his 800m heat (47.21; 33.30).

Another newcomer SWAP FEE, a colt by Capitalist, also impressed showing good speed for an easy win his 800m heat in fast time (46.64; 32.77) while the Godolphin youngster SHAKEN is ready to resume after cruising in the lead to win her 800m heat (48.05; 33.51) with plenty in reserve.
