ROSEHILL July 1

Best Bets

RACE 1 (6) CHORLTON LANE: No doubt this lightly raced import is the key runner having his first Australian start for the Maher/Eustace team. Impressive under higher weights in both his UK starts over 1400m, winning his maiden in a trot before a close second, and two soft jump outs over 760m and 1000m at Cranbourne in the last month have him ready for this trip. He's been gelded since he landed here and significant early market support supports the view that he would not be tackling a Sydney race first-up if the stable were not confident about his chances.

RACE 7 (2) FAWKNER PARK: Progressive import has made an impact winning his first three Australian starts and should be even better getting out to 2400m as he won by six lengths over this trip at his first attempt when having his final start before leaving Ireland. Certainly gave that impression with the way he lifted in the final 50 metres to win his last start over 2000m at this course and he's not badly treated against similar opposition with only 1.5kg more after the claim for Dylan Gibbons.

RACE 8 (13) VIENNA PRINCESS: Stylish mare is on a rapid upward spiral, showing good improvement second up to win over 1300m at this course against her own sex carrying 58.5kg. Impressed with her turn of foot to let down with a fast closing sprint and she should relish this extra trip with 4kg less from an ideal draw that will see her saved for the last run at the favourite.

For Value

RACE 2: (2) RINGAROSA (EW) - Good winning form prior to her last start when stopped in her tracks at the crucial stage. Suited by these conditions.

RACE 3: (6) OAKFIELD WARATAH (EW) - Steps up from a strong Midway win over this course and distance. Continues to improve and should enjoy a kind run.

RACE 4: (14) EPICUS (Value) - Keeps getting better with racing and will back up a fit sprinter from a strong front running win over 1400m at Newcastle last Saturday. Sure to give a good sight.

RACE 9: (10) TOURISTIC (EW) – French import is well into his second Australian prep and ready to win after three sound efforts since resuming. Gets his chance with a 3kg drop from his last start third over course and distance.

RACE 10: (8) WINDSHADOW (EW) - Strong provincial win over 1350m second up and the form out of that race has been franked by a subsequent city winner. Maps well to sit on speed.

TRIAL POINTERS

HAWKESBURY June 19: Previously noted Godolphin youngster SHAKEN is ready to resume after cruising in the lead to win her 800m heat (48.05; 33.51) with plenty in reserve.

RANDWICK June `13: Imported Frankel 4YO SPECIAL ENVOY looks ready for his Australian debut after a stylish win in his 1200m heat (73.97; 35.47). Trials over this trip are rarely nothing more than working gallops but he was given a good test by Adam Hyeronimus over the last 400m and stretched out nicely when asked to extend, showing good improvement on his first local trial. Waterhouse and Bott also won a 1045m heat with unraced 2YO LOVE AND LIGHT (62.87; 34.72). The racy Capitalist filly has now won two trials, beating subsequent winner Taormina into second place both times. She led and slipped away from her stablemate at the 600m, proving too nippy in the quickest time for the seven heats over the trip.

WARWICK FARM June 9: The open heat over 792m won by Rubiwish (47.14; 33.65) was a trial of some substance with a noted effort by the runner up LOLLY YEATS.

ROSEHILL June 5: The 2YO heats created most interest and will be a reliable reference to late season juvenile races. One heat winner that really made an impression was Godolphin's blueblood filly SHAKEN, another I Am Invincible product from the G1 winner Earthquake. She didn't run to expectations in her first outing earlier in the season but looked a readymade winner letting down impressively from off the pace and running clear under a soft ride to win her heat by almost 1.5 lengths in fast time (54.74; 34.67).
