Chris Scholtz reviews Sydney barrier trials at Warwick Farm on July 7.
WARWICK FARM July 7
Inside Grass; Soft 5
13 Heats – 3 x 1200m (2 Open; 1 Maiden); 3 x 798m (3 Open); 4 x 792m (4 2YO); 3 x 788m (1 2YO; 2 Maiden)
Some sharp wins by fast runners in the short heats.
I AM LETHAL (John O'Shea): Expect sharp improvement next time he goes to the races after an impressive win in his 798m heat (47.74; 33.40). Settled fourth before peeling three wide at the 400m where he extended smoothly and cruised to a clear lead before Tom Sherry took hold and let him coast through the line.
I AM ME (Ciaron Maher/David Eustace): Exciting speedster has won seven from 13 and looks primed for more success after a soft win her 798m heat (47.22; 33.59). She was keen to run when she had company in the lead but was always working well within herself and looked to have plenty to offer over the last 200m in her first trial since February.
All the way for @cmaherracing mare I Am Me in a trial at Warwick Farm on Friday. Also in the heat is multiple stakes winner Argentia, now with @PrideRacing, in fifth. @tabcomau pic.twitter.com/RMyhUsRH6k— Racing NSW (@racing_nsw) July 7, 2023
VINDICATION (Jarrod Austin): You have to respect the times this flier by Deep Field has been running in two recent trial wins at Warwick Farm. He led with ease and was never off the bit posting the fastest 798m heat won (46.71; 33.12) while running home in the fastest sectional. Has only one win over 1150m in seven starts but can be well placed over a short course first-up.
Group winner GLINT OF SILVER worked nicely to win his 1200m heat 73.21; 35.145). The two open heats featured some nice trials from good staying types including the Matt Smith imports FIRST IN LINE and ROYAL ROBBINS and the Snowden-trained pair TAJNEED and WOLLOMBI.
Group 2 winning @DavidPfieffer grey Glint Of Silver leads all the way to to win a Warwick Farm trial on Friday to beat @mcsmithracing stablemates First In Line and Festival Dancer. The King's horse Chalk Stream had a quiet trial. @tabcomau pic.twitter.com/3qKknipnzv

The better heat winners in the 2YO trials included the well performed THE INSTRUCTOR taking out his 792m heat with authority (47.37; 34.04) and SKY ARTIST in her heat over 788m (47.63; 34.75).
NOVEMBER RHYTHM should find a suitable maiden after a strong win his heat over 788m (46.34; 33.46).
