RANDWICK July 14

Randwick A Grass; Good 4

12 Heats – 1 x 1200m (Open); 6 x 1050m (2 Open; 3 2YO; 1 Maiden); 5 x 742m (3 2YO; 1 3YO Fillies; 1 Open)

The 2YO heats created most interest and should be the source of some worthwhile form as we work into the new season.

EGYPTOLOGIST (John O'Shea): Unraced American Pharaoh gelding made nice improvement off his first trial to work home in impressive style for fourth in his 2YO heat over 1050m won by SOLAR SYSTEM (64.15; 35.28). He settled last and had to change course when full of running before surging late under an easy ride. Loved the way he went through the line.

LES VAMPIRES (Waterhouse/Bott): Unraced Pierro colt kept intact his unbeaten record in two trials, again showing he is a natural runner to lead and sprint clear for an easy win in his 1050m heat in sharp time (63.65; 34.72).

MORAVIA/PLATINUM JUBILEE: Keen to see Michael Freedman's unraced Snitzel colt MORAVIA get to the races after a classy trial win, coming from five lengths off the lead at the 300m to surge home over the top of the Gimcrack Stakes winner PLATINUM JUBILEE in the fastest 742m heat (43.66; 33.44). He's been well educated  with four trials for two wins and two seconds and obviously is a youngster full of potential. The racy filly PLATINUM JUBILEE was having her first trial since she ran in the Golden Slipper and is sure to take plenty of benefit as she was not put under any great pressure over the last 100m.

Among the older heat winners the quality filly NORTH STAR LASS was too classy for her rivals in a slow 742m heat for 3YO fillies (45.71; 34.88) while the lightly raced PINK CHASMERE, an I Am Invincible filly from the Maher/Eustace team with one win from four starts in Victoria, looked sharp sprinting home fast to win the quickest 1050m heat (63.20; 34.53) after standing the leaders a big start.

WYONG July 10

Course Proper; Soft 6

16 Heats – 1 x 1200m (Open); 8 x 1000m (2 Open; 4 2YO; 2 Maiden);  7 x 845m (2 Open; 3 2YO; 2 Maiden)

A couple of unraced juveniles made an impression with sharp heat wins that have them ready to go to the races.

The Godolphin youngster STANISLAUS had impressed in an earlier city trial and confirmed that form with a strong win in his 1000m heat (61.96; 36.20) over FICKLE, another youngster who had also performed notably in an earlier Canterbury trial.

In the shorter 845m heats dominant wins by the unraced trio FIRE STAR (51.93; 35.01); STENSON WALLMAN (51.13; 34.79) and DIVINE BENE (51.08; 34.90) auger well for their coming debuts.

GARRISON
GARRISON Picture: Steve Hart

In the open trials the last start winner GARRISON showed he had trained on well by doing all that was required for a soft win in his 1000m heat (59.78; 34.64) while a fresh DREAMDEEL sprinted to a big win in his 845m heat (50.53; 34.02), sharp work for a gelding not seen since he won over 1850m at Newcastle in April.
