RANDWICK July 29

Best Bets

RACE 3 (12) TAKE THE KITTY: Lightly raced 3YO gets his second crack at a Highway after impressing with his luckless third over 1200m at Randwick where he would have won with a clear crack over the last 300m. While he faces a class rise from a C2 to C3 his stable has a second to none strike rate in Highways and have him nicely placed to progress off that first city experience with a 1.5kg drop in weight.

RACE 5 (6) MUTAMANNI: This import has mixed it up in his four Australian starts winning twice like a good horse but also finishing unplaced twice when a well-supported favourite. Didn't quite run to expectations at this course last time when fourth at his first 2000m attempt after a strong 1600m win under 59kg at Warwick Farm when having his first Sydney start. Prepared to forgive and rate him on his winning form as he will be suited dropping back to 1800m with the advantage of top apprentice Zac Lloyd's allowance.

RACE 9 (12) ESTADIO MESTALLA: Nice choice of race for this dual acceptor as he will appreciate dropping 5kg from his third over 1800m at this course on July 15 and is sure to take benefit from that outing as it was his first start for seven weeks. A drying track will suit and I like the fact that the Waller stable has put faith in him as its only runner in this event.

For Value

RACE 2 (12) REAL PEACE: Can progress from his last start placing when second up as he needs this trip. Has to overcome a wide draw but is well placed with the claim for top apprentice.

RACE 4 (11) ENDORPHINS: Has found the line in good style in her two starts since resuming. Rates well over this distance with light weight.

RACE 7 (3) DIAMOND DEALER: Sure to be fitter for her solid first-up fourth in stronger class. Zac Lloyd can give her the last crack at the unbeaten favourite.

RACE 10 (10) MIRRA VIEW: Forgive last start here when held up in traffic over 1400m. Suited over this shorter trip from rails draw.

TRIAL POINTERS

HAWKESBURY July 17: Strong work by the well performed mare BANANA QUEEN to finish third in the fastest heat over 1000m (60.09; 34.09). John O'Shea's maiden runner AMRAP looks ready to win after putting in impressive work over the last 200m to win his 800m heat in fast time (47.77; 33.04).

WYONG July 10: Godolphin youngster STANISLAUS had impressed in an earlier city trial and confirmed that form with a strong win in his 1000m heat (61.96; 36.20). In the shorter 845m heats a dominant win by the unraced STENSON WALLMAN (51.13; 34.79) augers well for his coming debut.

ROSEHILL July 4: Talented Lonhro 4YO HIGH PLATEAU should take plenty of improvement from his strong fourth in his first trial since April, travelling wide in his 900m heat (56.97; 36.61) and not asked for a serious effort as he held his ground well over the last 200m. H's only had the three starts for two wins and has the look of a horse ready to climb the classes.

RANDWICK June 30: The fastest 1040m heat (62.84; 34.04) featured last start winner STROMBUS (4th) keeping up the fitness levels with nice work over the last 100m.
