ROSEHILL August 5

Best Bets

RACE 4 - (10) NANA'S WISH: This lightly-raced former Kiwi mare will be having her third Australian start with top stable having primed her for a peak performance with two promising lead-up runs. She won her maiden in NZ over this distance and obviously appreciated 1400m when showing nice improvement to finish third in this class when second up at Warwick Farm. Down in weight and rates well carrying 1kg under the limit after Zac Lloyd takes his allowance.

RACE 5 – (9) LOVERO: Honest mare made amends for some luckless placings with an easy last start win at Gosford when she sprinted away from her rivals over 1100m under 59.5kg. Well placed to go on with it as she drops sharply in weight from a good draw on her home track. Worth noting her only previous city start saw her finish a close second to Petulant when resuming at Canterbury in June and meets that mare on better terms.

RACE 8 – (11) I AM ME: Inside barrier is the ideal set up for this classy mare to add to her excellent winning strike rate as she is drawn to stalk the hot speed that is certain to come from those drawn wider. She's unbeaten in two Rosehill starts and impressive wins in two recent trials have her well prepared to carry on from her last campaign when four successive wins included a track record over 1200m at Canterbury before a creditable effort in the G1 Oakleigh Plate. Rates to win carrying the lightest weight under the set weight conditions.

Why they can win....

RACE 1 – (9) BURRANDANA: Has been luckless since resuming in shorter Highway events. This must be his chance.

RACE 2 - (14) SUPER BRIGHT: Going well in this company. Can find the line from his good draw.

RACE 3 - (3) KIRKEBY: Can repeat his last start win over this course and distance as the smart move to take the 1.5kg claim for Zac Lloyd means he rises only 1kg against a similar field.

RACE 6 - (6) WATEGOS: Will be fitter for his determined Rosehill win over 1200m in this class two weeks ago when second up.

RACE 7 - (5) LEGIO TEN: This class suits after strong Melbourne performances. Maps well as strong pace will give him last look.

RACE 9 - (11) FAWKNER PARK: He's a stayer on the rise and with only 52.5kg can extend his winning sequence despite five weeks since his latest win over 2400m under 60kg. Another to benefit from Zac Lloyd's allowance.

RACE 10 – (14) AMOR VICTORIOUS: Lightly raced 4YO had excuses last time when second up. Better draw has him well placed to improve sharply under his light weight.

TRIAL POINTERS

RANDWICK July 28: GOLDEN MILE sat on the back of the leader and was made to work to the line to get the upper hand for a solid win in his 1000m heat (60.78; 34.72) to follow up his impressive third in his Hawkesbury trial. NINGALOO STAR also impressed with a fast closing third in the same heat.

WARWICK FARM July 24: Two black type trials over 900m on the course proper. In Heat 1 (54.06; 34.83) the pick of the trial was the second by the classy mare ARGENTIA. She led easily but was never called on for a serious effort and was always working well within herself over the last 200m. In Heat 2 a brilliant turn of speed from BIG PARADE saw him open up a big lead and eventually record a stunning 20 lengths win in fast time (52.40; 33.29). He's now won two trials since joining the Joe Pride stable and will be primed for a short course sprint first-up.

ROSEHILL July 21: Three heats on the course proper for black type performers. Sharp work by the good sprinter ROCKETING BY to win his 900m heat leading from start to finish (56.68; 34.10). Classy mare I AM ME backed up her earlier trial win at Warwick Farm on July 1 with another impressive piece of work to win her 900m heat with plenty in hand (56.62; 34.80).

HAWKESBURY July 17: An impressive return to the trials by G1 star GOLDEN MILE in his 800m heat (48.17; 32.94). He was ridden quietly off the pace with real class about the way he was getting into his work over the last 100m to finish third.

WARWICK FARM July 7: Exciting speedster I AM ME has won seven from 13 and looks primed for more success after a soft win her 98m heat (47.22; 33.59). She was keen to run when she had company in the lead but was always working well within herself and looked to have plenty to offer over the last 200m in her first trial since February.

WARWICK FARM May 26: BIG PARADE led his 795m heat easily before Ruthless Dame joined him at the 350m with the pair splitting the line together working well within themselves. They could have improved on the heat time (48.53; 34.26).

WARWICK FARM March 17: STRUFF won the fastest of the four 794m heat winners by a long way (46.74; 33.23), winning with style as she surged over the last 50m to get the better of the pacy leader. This Winning Rupert filly was placed in a strong maiden at Kembla Grange on debut and should soon graduate from that class.
