TRIAL POINTERS
WARWICK FARM: August 19: The 1207m maiden heat winner KONING (75.16; 37.80) appeals as a staying prospect to follow with interest.
ROSEHILL August 11: Hawkes Racing dominated the maiden trials over 900m with excellent heat wins by ALLAPERCANTO (54.65; 34.84), MAKARENA (54.99; 34.71) and PRIMO (55.97; 36.45) and an eye catching placing from SEKANI. Unraced Snitzel filly MAKARENA was blackbooked after winning her first trial in March and her debut will be eagerly anticipated after confirming her promise with a classy surge to win her heat with ease
WARWICK FARM July 24: The 2YO heats in on the inner track created plenty of interest with plenty to like about the 798m heat win by NADAL (47.68; 34.56), an Xtravagant colt who has raced twice in Victoria for a Bendigo placing. Other youngsters with good prospects include LOST, SIOVY DANE and DISNECK.
HAWKESBURY July 17: The strength of the Godolphin team for the coming season was obvious, winning six heats with some of their classiest young prospects from their current 2YO crop. Their heat winners included the 2YO Group/Listed winners BARBER, CORNICHE and TOM KITTEN. The G3 winner BARBER was given time to settle off the pace in his fast run 800m heat (47.51; 33.15) while travelling wide before rounding them up under a soft ride. Made an impression with his strength through the line.
ROSEHILL March 13: Unraced Snitzel filly MAKARENA showed abundant natural talent to win her 900m heat (55.20; 35.82) after she gave a free running leader four lengths start from the 100m, going up a gear as soon as she was given a nudge by Zac Lloyd to surge through the line in great style. Few youngsters win their first trial in this manner.
WARWICK FARM December 23: Taken by the first trial of the Harry Angel youngster RAVENCLAW to finish second in his 813m heat (49.23; 34.60). It was the slowest of the four 2YO heats over 813m but that doesn't detract from his effort to work home under strongly from last under an easy ride from James McDonald. Suspect Waller has some good talent to work with another good trial placing at Randwick on April 18.
