Selections and best bets from Chris Scholtz for the Rosehill meeting on August 26 plus Trial Watch and Blackbook Reports.
ROSEHILL August 26
Best Bets
RACE 3 (6) GREEN SHADOWS: Has been a model of consistency with six seconds from last seven starts. Added to his frustrating sequence when edged out by the promising Chorlton House over 1400m at this course two weeks ago when having his first outing for six weeks. Hard to beat staying in the same class with the benefit of that run.
RFACE 5 (7) SMASHING EAGLE: Made amends for some luckless performances with an explosive win over this course and distance two weeks ago, posting fast sectionals with his impressive burst from last to first. Stays in the same class and with the same early speed among his rivals it sets up nicely for him to do it again despite a 2.5kg increase.
RACE 6 (5) CALL DI: Talented Frankel mare trialled well in Group company behind Alligator Blood before resuming with a game second over 1400m at this course when she found the in-form Powerful Peg a shade fitter. She was placed in a strong Group 2 over 1400m at Sandown when second up last prep and rates to win on that form.

Why They Can Win….
RACE 1 (9) MELODY AGAIN: Has been unlucky in stronger Highways. Gets her chance over this trip from a kind draw.
RACE 2 (1) TOO MUCH CAVIAR: Ready to peak with benefit of a trial win since last start. Being the obvious leader he'll be hard to run down if allowed to dictate.
RACE 4 (7) LE VESUVIUS: Continued winning progression first-up at Muswellbrook under a good weight. Lightly raced improver capable of better.
RACE 7 (3) CABALLUS: Should have won this track and distance last time when he posted quickest last 200m. Will relish 3.5kg drop in weight.
RACE 8 (1) CORNICHE: Trialling well and drawn to suit. His Group 2 win over subsequent Golden Slipper winner speaks for itself.
RACE 9 (12) GLINT OF SILVER: Has come up well and ready to peak third up. Should get on pace favours.
RACE 10 (4) MUNITIONS: Rates well off resuming fourth in stronger company. Well placed in this grade with benefit of 3kg claim.

TRIAL POINTERS
WARWICK FARM: August 19: The 1207m maiden heat winner KONING (75.16; 37.80) appeals as a staying prospect to follow with interest.
ROSEHILL August 11: TOO MUCH CAVIAR won the fastest of the four 1030m heats (63.16; 34.59) from ASCENSION and a quietly ridden INHIBITIONS. Hawkes Racing dominated the maiden trials over 900m with excellent heat wins by ALLAPERCANTO (54.65; 34.84) and PRIMO (55.97; 36.45).
HAWKESBURY July 17: The strength of the Godolphin team for the coming season was obvious, winning six heats with some of their classiest young prospects from their current 2YO crop. Their heat winners included the 2YO Group/Listed winners BARBER, CORNICHE and TOM KITTEN. The G3 winner BARBER was given time to settle off the pace in his fast run 800m heat (47.51; 33.15) while travelling wide before rounding them up under a soft ride. Made an impression with his strength through the line.
