MOONEE VALLEY September 9

Best Bets:

RACE 7 (11) FUTURE HISTORY: Exploited the leader bias when dictating for a soft win over this course and distance two weeks ago. Fitter again and with the claim for in-form apprentice remains well weighted to repeat.

RACE 10 (9) HENNESSY LAD: New peak third up when a strong last start winner over this course and distance under 59kg. On an upward spiral and rates to win again with 5kg less after Carleen Hefel takes her claim.

For Value

RACE 3 (11) FEARENTLESS: Recovered well from a poor start for a good placing over 2100m in this class at Sandown. Well placed with handy pull in the weights.

RACE 9 (13) ATTRITION: First start for five months when an eye catching fifth in the G2 Peter Lawrence behind Mr Brightside over 1400m at Caulfield. Progressive 4YO with ample scope for improvement.

ROSEHILL September 9

Best Bets

RACE 4 (2) UNSPOKEN: Stylish import was placed twice in his first Australian prep including a heavily supported first-up second over 1550m in this class when he had to give 3kg to a tearaway winner. Gets a subtle gear change and is well prepared to resume after he impressed rounding up the in-form Tazaral for a soft win in a strong 1250m trial at Hawkesbury. No surprise to see him well supported in early betting.

RACE 5 (6) FOUJITA SAN: Rates highly in this company on his G2 Stutt Stakes placing last spring and looks ready to find that form again after two strong prep runs in shorter races. Should have gone close last time when fourth, less than a length from the winner Marquess, over 1500m at this course and meets that horse 3kg better over a trip more to his liking.

RACE 9 (7) MADAME POMMERY: Last spring's G1 Thousand Guineas winner is poised to make up for a below par autumn campaign after her super first-up second to the subsequent Tramway winner Pericles over 1400m at this course when she flew late to miss by a nose. Her Rosehill record is first class and with 3kg less from the rails draw she is ideally placed to go one better.

Why they can win….

RACE 1 - (8) BUNKER HUT: Strong winner under 60kg before winter break. Recent trial suggests he's ready to go on with it.

RACE 2 - (3) CHASE MY CROWN: Back in grade and benefits from a 3kg claim. Has the right form for this class.

RACE 3 - (6) CASUAL CONNECTION: Good 2400m form this class before spell. Nice prep runs and blinkers back on significant.

RACE 6 - (5) ZAPATEO: Proven G1 mare set for this off first class trials. Drawn to get the favours.

RACE 7 - (5) ENCAP: Still a maiden but has been luckless in this class. Gets his chance from the rails draw.

RACE 8 - (2) CYLINDER: Sure to be fitter for his game first-up win at Caulfield. Top grade form at this course.

RACE 10 – (11) AIRMAN: Impressive sprint prospect is unbeaten fresh. Hard to miss his eye catching trial.

TRIAL POINTERS

ROSEHILL September 5: The racy mare RED CARD put in her best work over the last 100m for second in the fastest 900m heat won by Overpass (54.32; 34.65), reaffirming that she is in the right form to perform first-up. The classy pair Buenos Noches and ZAPATEO split the line in another 900m trial, recording a tick slower (54.34; 34.18) but notably running a faster closing sectional. ZAPATEO led out and worked well within herself to the line.

RANDWICK August 25: A high class black type trial over 850m on the Kensington track saw the imported July Cup winner Alcohol Free pick up the race fit I AM ME for a narrow win (49.81; 32.79). I AM ME led under restraint and could have won the trial if asked for a serious effort. In the same heat the good filly SUNSHINE IN PARIS improved on her first-up trial for a sound fourth. Talented sprinter KOTE looks ready to go after doing all that was required to win his heat over 1045m on the A grass (64.03; 35.45). RHYTHM OF LOVE stood out among the maiden heat winners, cruising easily through his 1045m trial with a lovely relaxed action for a soft win in good time (63.69; 35.41). He was placed in two of his first three starts in April and May and with the expectation that progeny by his sire Grunt will hit their straps as 3YOs he looks to have a bright future.

GOSFORD August 25: Imported Doncaster Handicap placegetter NUGGET showed his class with a strong win in the 1200m heat. Having his second trial since he finished third in the Doncaster behind Mr Brightside and My Oberon, he sat behind the pace before working to the line under a soft ride (75.22; 35.70). A smart maiden heat win by the frequently placed SHE'S A BAD GIRL (49.56; 36./06) suggests she will be well fancied when produced in a suitable maiden.

ROSEHILL August 22: In the first black type heat on the course proper over 1000m (62.71; 34.80) Queensland Derby winner KOVALICA was unextended to finish second and would have made it interesting of he had been asked for a serious effort over the last 200m

ROSEHILL August 22: The first black type heat on the course proper was won by the high class 3YO DON CORLEONE, leading from start to finish for a soft win over an unextended Queensland Derby winner KOVALICA (62.71; 34.80). The winner showed improved fitness from his resuming trial at Rosehill on August 11 while KOVALICA would have made it interesting of he had been asked for a serious effort over the last 200m. In a strong 1030m heat smart speedster MAOTAI (64.34; 35.82) finished second and is primed for a bold fresh run after two good trials. The fastest 1030m heat was won by promising 3YO SNAPBACK (63.04; 35.67) with his stylish work over the last 200m a sure sign that he is set for a good prep.

HAWKESBURY August 21: Quality mare RED CARD finished an impressive third in the quickest 800m heat (46.50; 32.76) that featured a fast last 600m. Having her first trial since she won successive stakes races in May, she travelled three deep and went wider on the turn but was never off the bit as she worked to the line with plenty to offer

WARWICK FARM August 18: Unraced Russian Revolution gelding UNSTOPABULL finished third in his 801m heat in his first trial since January. Took the eye working to the line easily from off the pace in a trial that is sure to improve his fitness.

RANDWICK August 15: Classy G1-placed mare ZAPATEO had her prep topped off with a sharp win in her 850m heat on the Kensington. Did it easily in front to post the quickest time of the two heats (50.90; 33.77) over the trip and could easily have gone faster.
