RANDWICK September 16

RACE 3 (9) GEO TEORAINN: You rarely get a French G1 placegetter in this class, underlining how well this lightly raced import is placed for her third start in Australia for Chris Waller. Has really taken the eye in her two prep runs and clearly should have finished a lot closer over this course and distance in stronger grade last time after a chequered run from the 300m. Hard to beat with her scope for improvement.

RACE 6 (3) KIMOCHI: The fillies have sorted themselves in the shorter legs of the Princess Series with this girl the one that has been screaming to get to 1400m. Out of luck in both placings over 1200m in the Silver Shadow and Furious Stakes and has the strength to eat up the extra 200m. Surely she will get the right run this time from her good draw.

RACE 9 (11) OLENTIA: Plenty of excuses for her costly last start fifth over this course and distance when second up. She again has to overcome a tricky draw but that was just her second loss in seven starts and must stick with her as the big figures she posted in her previous wins underline how well placed she is on the limit weight.

TRIAL POINTERS

RANDWICK September 8: A strong black type heat over 850m on the Kensington track featured several Everest contenders. KING OF SPARTA led and was put under a ride to win the trial (49.21; 33.01) but the stand out efforts came from noted G1 stars PRIVATE EYE and LOST AND RUNNING. PRIVATE EYE improved sharply on his prior easy trial, responding when called on to put in nice work late for a close second while LOST AND RUNNING was trucking from start to finish and was the one with the most in reserve finishing fourth under a big hold. In the open heats on the A grass PIZARRO was responsible for a notable effort in his 1040m heat (I63.12; 34.71) and is sure to come on from a soft fifth.

ROSEHILL September 5: There was considerable depth in the open heats over both distances with the fastest heats won by HAWAII FIVE OH (1030m – 62.07; 34.85) and OVERPASS (900m – 54.32; 34.65). HAWAII FIVE OH was given a strong conditioning trial, taking up the running and working strongly to the line with the classy mare RUTHLESS DAME improving nicely off her first-up trial to run on late for second. The pair that really took the eye in this heat were MAZU and KING'S GAMBIT. MAZU has not been asked for a serious effort in both his trials and is coming up well for his return while the 3YO KING'S GAMBIT stumbled out of the gates and had to make up many lengths, sprinting keenly to the line overt the last 100m. OVERPASS is on song for his return to racing, leading comfortably in his 900m heat and holding his advantage to the line for a soft win in the fastest trial over the distance. Classy sprinter BUENOS NOCHES recorded a tick slower in his 900m heat (54.34; 34.18) but notably posted a faster closing sectional while working well within himself to the line.

NEWCASTLE September 4: MY ELOISE followed up her excellent Gosford trial win on August 25 with a soft win in the fastest 800m heat (46.41; 32.61). Sat outside the leader and extended under no pressure over the last 100m, pointing to a strong showing when she resumes. The fastest 1000m trial was won in good style by the talented KAYOBI (59.62; 33.32) after covering the most ground.

RANDWICK August 25: A high class black type trial over 850m on the Kensington track featured four G1 winners and a pair of G2 winners (49.81; 32.79). Closing off strongly for third was LOST AND RUNNING in an excellent return from his autumn issues. PRIVATE EYE was not in the trial to compete and had a quiet time finishing seven lengths from the winner. Talented sprinter KOTE looks ready to go after doing all that was required to win his heat over 1045m on the A grass (64.03; 35.45).

GOSFORD August 25: Liked the work of MY ELOISE to win her 800m open heat in the fastest time of the six heats over the distance (47.98; 34.78). Last season's G1 winner RUTHLESS DAME had nothing more than exercise for an easy sixth in her 800m heat in her first trial since June.

ROSEHILL August 22: After leading out in his 900m trial on the course proper a fresh OVERPASS held his ground well to finish second in his return trial. Golden Slipper placegetter KING GAMBIT put in nice work late to finish third with his stablemate MAZU trialling well within himself to finish a close fourth.

WARWICK FARM August 18: In the fastest 807m heat (48.28; 34.64) won by Eduardo the lightly raced G3 winner KIBOU took the eye with his work over the last 50m to finish second. He was under a good hold travelling easily a length or two off the winner and had plenty to offer making ground easily under a kind ride. The maiden LEFT FIELD trialled impressively in a strong heat.

HAWKESBURY July 17: The G3 winner BARBER was given time to settle off the pace in his fast 800m heat (47.51; 33.15) while travelling wide before rounding them up under a soft ride. Made an impression with his strength through the line.
