ROSEHILL October 7

Best Bets

RACE 3 (4) GAN TEORAINN: Top stable has been grooming this imported mare for 2000m with three 1600m starts since she made her Australian debut in August. Each time she has been doing her best work late through the line and with the benefit of those runs should be ready to run to the form that saw her placed in G1 company in France. Gets a significant gear change with the removal of blinkers and Kerrin McEvoy should have taken plenty from his first ride on the mare when she was a strong third last time at Randwick.

RACE 9 (5) MAGIC TIME: Impressive Melbourne mare returns to Sydney in a bid to build on her autumn visit when she posted a win and a third in Group races at Randwick. She remained unbeaten after three starts when she ran down main rival PARISAL to win the G3 PJ Bell (1200m) first-up and then had her sprint negated by a heavy track when third in the G3 JB Carr over 1400m. Endured a wide run when an excellent resuming fifth over 1100m at Caulfield when making ground from the back half and a subsequent sharp jump out has her primed to run to a new peak.

RACE 10 (18) BUNKER HUT: Stylish Savabeel 4YO steps up to this class seeking to make it three wins in succession after stylish wins in lower grades. Went for a freshen in June after carrying 60kg to a strong win over 1300m at Warwick Farm and was again too good for his rivals when returning in a BM72 over 1200m at this course on September 9. Has always appealed as the type to get better with maturity and is well placed to continue his progression with the benefit of that first Rosehill experience.

Why They Can Win….

RACE 1: (11) ATMOSPHERIC ROCK – Consistent Highway form. Won't get a better chance to put one on the board.

RACE 2: (15) TERRITORY EXPRESS – Plenty of merit in his provincial form. Will appreciate a handy 4kg drop in weight.

RACE 4: (4) WAY TO THE STARS: Too quick for them first-up. Hard to run down if gifted the lead.

RACE 5: (5) CELESTIAL LEGEND - Big potential and sure to be fitter for his strong first-up second at this course. Extra trip in his favour.

RACE 6: (1) ENCAP - Proven against the best of his age over this course and distance. Conceding weight but hard to oppose.

RACE 7: (11) MONTEFILIA – Trap race known for upsets but she wins on her best WFA form. Looks close after strong third in the Kingston Town.

RACE 8: (12) WATERFORD – Bypassed the Epsom for this suitable target. Excels at Rosehill and well weighted.

TRIAL POINTERS

WARWICK FARM September 25: A lovely trial from quality mare ARGENTIA. She was allowed to drift back in her 808m heat (48.01; 34.02) and was six lengths off the leaders before switching to the outside off the turn where she made ground easily without any pressure being applied to finish third. A quick back up trial by classy 3YO KING'S GAMBIT after his first-up placing in Melbourne. Back to his usual style off settling last before working easily through the pack to finish third with plenty in reserve in the fastest short course heat of the morning over 808m (47.27; 33.71). He was too keen racing on the speed at Flemington.

RANDWICK September 8: The progressive COTEHELE won a fast 1040m heat (62.53; 34.30) in the style of a horse set for more success.
