ROSEHILL October 13

Inside Grass; Good 4

8 Heats – 3 x 1030m (2 Open; 1 Maiden); 5 x 900m (1 2YO; 1 Open; 3 Maiden)

A small but worthwhile set with some eye catching efforts from lightly raced improvers.

LONG MEMORY (Richard & Will Freedman): This 4YO mare by Lonhro was having her first trial since her only race start 12 months ago and performed strongly to win her 900m heat (56.01; 35.39). Jumped to the lead but was given no peace yet kept up a strong gallop under a kind ride to win with some authority. Should repay her connections for their perseverance.

SHOHEI (Hawkes Racing): A real eye catcher in the open heat over 900m won by the pacy SATIN AND SILK (55.01; 35.44). Settled at the rear before slicing through the field with an inside run from the 300m under a big hold from Zac Lloyd to finish a close fourth. She's a 5YO mare who has missed a place only once in seven starts and should build on that record.

The Snowden stable had made a great start to the season with their 2YOs and has another good prospect in HIGH OCTANE, a Deep Field colt who impressed winning the juvenile heat over 900m in the fastest time of the five trials over the distance (54.99; 34.85). He was slow into stride and tracked three wide for the trip before getting the better of the leader late without being fully extended, nice improvement on his first trial when placed in a Rosehill heat on October 3. Behind him the Capitalist filly BLANC DE NOIR captured attention with her closing fourth from last.

VINTONIC, a 5YO maiden, showed good pace to win the fastest heat over 1030m trial (63.43; 35.83) in a heat where the lightly raced Not A Single Doubt mare SPEYMALT took the eye with her impressive third in her first trial since July. Other maidens worth noting are the heat winner INFLUENTIAL, BROKERAGE and JUST EASY.

The open heat over 1030m was won in good style by the quality filly TUTTA LA VITA (63.75; 34.99). She led comfortably and had plenty in hand through the line with the recent maiden winner KADALL a nice fourth against better performed rivals under an easy ride.
