ROSEHILL December 29

Inside Grass; Soft 6

13 Heats – 3 x 1030m (1 Open; 2 Maiden); 10 x 900m (3 Open; 3 2YO; 4 Maiden)

A strong session featuring impressive 2YO and maiden heat winners.

HIGHNESS (Michael Freedman): Classy youngster will head to the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions in rich form after impressive work to win his 900m heat in the fastest of the three 2YO heats (54.06; 34.27). The pacy leader BARRACUDA made him work before he went up a gear to run clear over the last 100m, impressing with the way he extended over the last 50 metres to win by almost three lengths.

JUNQUEIRA (John O'Shea): He's been down on his early form in three starts since October but his impressive work to win the fastest of three 1030m heats (61.81; 34.72) indicates he is ready to turn that around. Given a positive ride by Tommy Berry to work to the front after 200m and from there travelled strongly, extending his lead easily over the last 150m to more than three lengths with his best work through the line. KING OF SPARTA was given an easy trial finishing fifth, working home nicely under a big hold.

REDBREAST (Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott): Impressive debut trial by this American Pharoah filly to run away with her maiden heat over 900m by almost five lengths (54.59; 34.60). Showed plenty of natural talent with the way she sprinted to the line under an easy ride.

It was a good morning for the Bjorn Baker team with strong trials by CABALLUS (fastest 900m heat win – 53.77; 34.11), ROCKABILLY REBEL and O'TYCOON.

MAGIC LEPRECHAUN, SPEED PERSONIFIED, NORTON ROAD, IRONTON and SIDE SHOW are runners to keep an eye on from the maiden heats.

WARWICK FARM December 22

Inside Grass/Polytrack; Soft 7

18 Heats – 3 x 1200m (3 Open); 4 x 816m (4 Open); 4 x 813m (4 2YO); 3 x 810m (1 3YO; 2 Maiden); 2 x 806m (2 Maiden); Polytrack 1 x 1175m (Open); 1 x 740m (Open)

Soft track conditions but a set that will be the source of some good summer winners.

BONITA QUEEN (Bjorn Baker): This I Am Invincible filly was placed in her first two provincial starts in August and September and should soon be a winner on her trial form. She has won three of her four trials and looks well prepared to resume after running strongly through the line for a soft win in her fast 810m trial (47.54; 33.53).

HELLSING (Annabel Neasham): This import is a lightly raced black type winner who has had only one start in 16 months but is an obvious talent on his Irish 2YO form in 2022 where he won twice and was G2 placed. He was also second in the Goffs Millions and is sure to take plenty of benefit from his first trial for the Neasham stable, working strongly to the line for a soft win in his 1200m heat (74.40; 36.42). Will watch his progress with interest.

RUSSIAN SNITZEL (David Pfeiffer): We have already rated this unraced Russian Revolution filly as an above average maiden with this impressive heat win over 810m in sharp time for the conditions (47.70; 33.91) adding to her reputation. She has won three of her four trials since April and is sure to be placed to advantage on debut by a smart stable.

SETOMBE (James Cummings): Impressive trial debut by this unraced Harry's Angel filly. Allowed to find her legs early in her 810m heat (48.56; 34.56), she settled in the back half before starting a run from the 500m that took her widest on straightening. She showed obvious talent to easily pick up the leaders and cruise through the line under a good hold from Zac Lloyd.

SHEZANALISTER (Bjorn Baker): Short course specialist with two wins and five placings up to 1100m is in the right form to add to her record in the right company after sprinting to an easy win in her fast 816m heat (47.58; 33.11). Liked the way she opened up over the last 300m to cruise home by six lengths.

The four 2YO heat winners over 813m recorded similar times, each showing good speed to lead them up and win with something in reserve. TOO DARN LIZZIE, a racy Too Darn Hot filly from the Waterhouse/Bott yard, posted the fastest time of the four heats (48.26; 34.16) but the other winners INNERVISIONS (48.60; 34.70), RIDE THE RIVER (48.60; 34.28) and RUNRANIRUN (48.36; 34.20) were equally as good. There were some nice efforts behind them from HUKA FALLS, BOSUSTOW; DEPUTIZE and CARAVANSERAI.

NOTED TRIALS

XX Bonita Queen; Hellsing; Russian Snitzel; Setombe; Shezanalister

X Against The Law; Bosustow; Caravanserai; Deputize; Detendu; Innervisions; Key Largo; Launch Control; No Questions Asked; Ostracised; Ride The River; Runranirun; Too Darn Lizzie; Winning Verse; Winston Hills
