ROSEHILL January 11

Inside Grass; Good 4

15 Heats; 4 x 1030m (1 Open; 2 Maiden; 1 2YO); 11 x 900m (3 Open; 3 2YO; 5 Maiden)

Class act ALLIGATOR BLOOD looked as good as ever cruising through his heat for an impressive win.

ALLIGATOR BLOOD (Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott): An early prep trial indicates the stable want him up and ready to go when he starts his autumn campaign. Always good to see an ageing star – remember he's a 7YO – perform so well as he was a class above his rivals cruising in the lead and winning the 900m heat as he liked (54.77; 34.06).

SWITZERLAND (Chris Waller): Loved his first soft trial at Warwick Farm on January 2 and another easy piece of work by this unraced Snitzel youngster to finish third in the quickest 900m heat won by DEPUTIZE (53.46; (33.93) confirms that he is a talented prospect. Eager to see what he can do under race conditions.

Other sharp 900m heat winners included JE REVE (53.75; 33.30), an unraced 3YO by Capitalist who has now had four trials, and the I Am Invincible youngster INNERVISIONS showing the same speed (53.66; 33.82) that saw him successful in his previous trial at Warwick Farm.

CANTERBURY January 9

Course Proper; Soft 5

19 Heats – 3 x 1100m (3 Open); 6 x 902m (5 Open; 1 2YO); 5 x 899m (5 2YO); 5 x 897m (1 2YO; 4 Maiden)

The Waterhouse/Bott and Snowden stables dominated the session; winning 14 of the 19 heats including all seven 2YO heats.

The rail was out an extreme distance on a soft track and generally suited the runners ridden for speed.

Gai and Adrian picked up eight wins including three of the 2YO heats while the Snowdens had six wins including four in the 2YO heats.

BLANC DE BLANC (Michael Freedman): A classy return by this I Am Invincible filly in her first appearance since she finished sixth in the Golden Slipper last March. Oozed class as she sat off the leaders, travelling three wide on the bit before easing past them under no pressure to record a soft win in her 902m heat (55.08; 34.31). The time was slow for the session but she had plenty in reserve.

CABALLUS (Bjorn Baker): A Randwick winner last season, this I Am Invincible colt impressed winning a Rosehill trial on December 29 and went on with here easily win his 902m heat under no pressure (54.50; 33.79).Liked the way he opened up over the last 100m to win the heat by more than three lengths.

LADY OF CAMELOT (Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott): There were numerous good 2YO trials but none matched the brilliance of this Written Tycoon filly as she sped away with her899m heat by more than nine lengths in the fastest time of the morning (53.17; 33.10).

Several other 2YOs reaffirmed the talent they had displayed earlier in the season in trials and races. They included impressive 899m heats wins by the Snowden pair FORCE RED (54.63; 34.62) and HIGH OCTANE (53.84; 34.39) and strong placings from Flemington winner BODYGUARD, MANOS and Breeders Plate winner MANAAL.

Classy Group star MAXIMAL made a pleasing return from a long layoff winning his 1100m heat (67.96; 35.67) in good style in his first trial since he last raced 14 months ago.

Other noted open heat winners in the 902m trials included OMNI MAN (53.94; 33.87) and TASHI (55.28; 34.41) while the unraced trial star LUNA FIELD won his fifth trial with another easy gallop over 897m (53.87; 34.23).
