The sale of Imperatriz headlines next week's National Sale on the Gold Coast, but before the star Kiwi mare is offered, Magic Millions will conduct the National Weanling Sale.

The 389-lot offering was initially scheduled for Thursday and Friday, May 23 and 24, but Magic Millions last month altered the scheduled with the sale to now take place on Sunday and Monday.

It is Australia's second major weanling offering of the month, following Inglis's Australian Weanling Sale in Sydney, which has Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch buoyant ahead of his sale.

"From what we can see on paper, we've got a huge amount of horses that will be up to the select sales, Magic Millions Book 1 in January and sales of the like," Bowditch said.

"The market for weanlings over the past month has been strong and given the fact we're fortunate enough to, probably, have the strongest offering of them you'd expect that, within reason, I think it can be a really healthy sale."

Among the sires represented in the catalogue are Zoustar, who has five entered, including a colt out of a half-sister to Extreme Choice, while I Am Invincible and Snitzel have two lots each.

I Am Invincible has a filly from the family of Golden Slipper winner Forensics, while Snitzel has a filly who is a half-sister to Blue Diamond Preview winner High Octane.

No sire has more lots catalogued than Home Affairs, one of the highest-profile first-season sires in Australian history, who has 16 lots left after withdrawals, while 10 weanlings by 2021 Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside will be offered.

They were the two most-popular freshmen stallions at Inglis, with Home Affairs' three youngsters sold at an average of $126,667, while Stay Inside averaged $106,250.

"They were both outstanding yearlings in their own right, they did what they've done on the racetrack and they're well-pedigreed horses," Bowditch said.

"They really should be highly sought-after when it comes to the select sales next year by trainers and syndicators.

"You'd suspect any of the pinhookers out there, or end-users, would be very happy to be bidding and participating on these horses on Sunday or Monday."

The National Weanling Sale commences at 11am AEST on Sunday, concludes on Monday with the National Broodmare Sale to start on Tuesday morning.
