The $10 million Magic Millions Raceday is a little more than a month away and Saturday could be the most defining day yet in the lead-up to the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Two of the most prominent horses in long-range betting on the $2.5 million event to be run on the Gold Coast on January 14 will go around in the two-year-old features on Saturday's Eagle Farm card.

Godfather is odds-on to win the $150,000 Listed Phelan Ready (1000m), while Empress Of Wonder is favourite for the $150,000 Listed Calaway Gal (1000m).

They share the fourth line of betting in several markets operating on the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Godfather, a son of I Am Invincible who is a brother to I Am Immortal and cost $1.1 million on the Gold Coast earlier this year, will be making his debut at Eagle Farm.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt, who is raced by James Harron and partners, has tuned up for his first start with soft trial placings at Randwick and Canterbury.

His rivals include Toowoomba colt Cifrado (Encryption), whose only start produced a second placing to star local Mishani Gangster, and Shalaa colt Torque I Tee, who chased home Skirt The Law last time out.

The Phelan Ready precedes the Calaway Gal, in which Annabel Neasham-trained filly Empress Of Wonder will be having her first start since beating home all bar Charm Stone in the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on Oaks Day.

The daughter of Choisir, who was a $100,000 Adelaide buy, returned to Sydney where she impressively won a trial, defeating Just Gisella, on November 29.

She is up against Exceed And Excel stablemate Excel D'or, who is having her first start, and debut Doomben winner Freeman (Lean Mean Machine), along with Malaboom, who is a daughter of Spirit Of Boom and former speedy two-year-old filly Malasun.

Favourite for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic is Godfather's Breeders Plate-winning stablemate Empire Of Japan (Snitzel), who was last seen running second to Ritzytwenties in a Canterbury trial on November 29.

Gimcrack Stakes winner Platinum Jubilee (Zoustar), who brilliantly won a trial at Rosehill on Friday morning, sits on the second line with Golden Gift runner-up Infatuation (I Am Invincible) the other shorter than Godfather and Empress Of Wonder.
