Add Another Award to the list of seven-figure broodmares that Yulong has added to its collection in 2023.

The burgeoning breeding behemoth paid $1.2 million for the daughter of Shamus Award, who was the headline lot of the Inglis Digital July (Early) Sale.

She joins Forbidden Love ($4.1m), Montefilia ($3.4m), Snapdancer ($3.2m), Icebath ($2.3m) and Isotope ($2.3m) as mares that Yulong has forked out big dollars for this year alone.

The Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas-trained Another Award was put up for grabs after back-to-back Group 1 placings in the Sangster Stakes and The Goodwood and has recently returned to work.

The five-year-old recently returned to work and was offered for sale as a racing and breeding prospect with Yulong likely to consider racing her on before a meeting with one of their growing band of stallions, which headlined by former Australian Champions Stallion, Written Tycoon.

She was one of a number of high-profile lots of a sale that included:

  • Listed winner and dual Group 2-placed I Am Invincible mare She's All Class selling to MSB for $620,000.
  • Imported mare Upside (Muhaarar), a descendant of legendary broodmare Fall Aspen, selling for $455,000 in-foal to Shamus Award.
  • An unnamed Wootton Basset weanling filly, a granddaughter of Elegant Fashion and close relation to Nimalee, selling to JB Bloodstock for $265,000.
  • Listed winner Majestic Shot (Shooting To Win) also sold to Yulong, for $220,000.
  • Gavin Bedggood paid $199,000 for Group 2 winner Just Folk (Magnus).
