The first foal of Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside has arrived on the eve of the new racing season with the colt described as a 'stamp' of his father.

US sprinting mare Excessivespending gave birth to the first product of one of the stars of his generation, who stands at Newgate Farm, with that operation's bloodstock manager Bruce Slade thrilled by what he saw.

"An absolute belter and a stamp of his sire," Slade said.

"To have Stay Inside's first foal as good as this is beyond exciting."

Stay Inside was one of the highest-profile members of the ground of stallions that served their first mares last spring, covering 189 mares at a fee of $77,000.
