Redoute’s Choice lands another Champion Broodmare Sire title.
Redoute's Choice has matched Encosta De Lago with four Australian Champion Broodmare Sire titles after holding off his great rival for the 2022/23 award.
Mares by the late Arrowfield Stud stallion produced progeny won $32,363,284 on Australian tracks, which afforded him a win of $117,011 over Encosta De Lago.
The star duo finished almost $7 million clear of third placegetter Exceed And Excel ($25,530,515) and both smashed the previous record of $29.9m, which was set by Encosta De Lago in 2021.
It was the sixth straight season that Redoute's Choice and Encosta De Lago have fought out the champion broodmare award with Redoute's Choice having won four of the past five titles.
From 661 runners in 2022/23, Redoute's Choice mares had 295 individual winners for a total of 455 wins.
Encosta De Lago had more winners (317) and wins (526) but had more runners than any other broodmare sire with 729.
There was no greater contributor to Redoute's Choice's cause than Anamoe, a son of Street Boss and Anamato, who won six Group 1 races – including the Cox Plate - and $6.4m in stakes.
