Big names represented among Caulfield Guineas entries.
James Cummings' hopes of a third-straight Caulfield Guineas win rest with three horses after nominations for the $3 million Group 1 closed on Tuesday.
Godolphin's head trainer paid the entry fee for Golden Slipper runner-up and Golden Rose favourite Cylinder (Exceed And Excel), Spring Champion Stakes favourite Tom Kitten and Snitzel colt Amur.
Cummings won last year's Guineas with Golden Mile, having claimed the 2021 edition with Anamoe.
The Cummings trio were among 127 three-year-olds who were paid-up-for the 1600-metre event, which will be run at Caulfield on October 14.
Australia's premier stable from last season, Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, have 11 entries, headed by J J Atkins winner King Colorado (Kingman), the same number as two-time Guineas winner Chris Waller.
Snitzel's Golden Slipper winner Shinzo, dual Group 1 winner Militarize (Dundeel) and Sunlight's brother Kandinsky Abstract (Zoustar) – who cost $3 million as a yearling – are among Waller's entries.
Saturday's Listed McKenzie Stakes winner Steparty (Flying Artie) and impressive McNeil Stakes winner Veight (Grunt), who were towards the head of long-range betting before entries closed, were also nominated.
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott has entries, Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young six, the same as Annabel Neasham, while Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr have five, as does Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman.
Three of Moody and Coleman's entries are fillies, headlined by Stakes-winning Justify filly Legacies with Mollynickers (Pierro) and Autumn Angel (The Autumn Sun) a handy support crew.
Moody and Coleman's girls are among 13 fillies entered with Miss Finland's daughter Miracle Of Love (Dundeel) among the other fillies entered.
The Melbourne Racing Club's Guineas roster has changed this year with the $1.5 million Thousand Guineas (1600m) moved back to Saturday, November 18 and entries for that event close on October 10.
