Darley shuttler lands first Aussie winner thanks to speedy filly
Too Darn Hot is on the board Down Under after Climate Change provided the Darley shuttle stallion with his first winner in Australia at Geelong on Thursday.
The Shane Nichols-trained filly proved too speedy for her rivals in the 1100-metre Wilson's Real Estate 2YO Maiden Plate.
There was much anticipation around Too Darn Hot's Southern Hemisphere progeny thanks to outstanding early results in Europe, who include Moyglare Stud Stakes (1408m) winner Fallen Angel.
The three-time Group 1 winner, a son of Dubawi, was one of the most in-demand first-season sires on the yearling sale circuit earlier this year, having yearlings sell for up to $1 million, which was the price Johnny McKeever paid for the filly out of Enbihaar at the Gold Coast in January.
Climate Change was offered at this year's Inglis Easter Sale, but failed to reach her $200,000 reserve, meaning she carries the colours of her dam Broadband, who was also bred by Peter Horwitz.
Broadband, a daughter of Sebring, won the Group 3 Breeders Stakes (1200m) in Adelaide at her second start and was also placed twice at Black Type level.
Too Darn Hot is a big chance to record another win in Australia before the week is out with the Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Arabian Summer favourite for Saturday's $200,000 Magic Millions Ballarat 2YO Classic (1000m).
