The Magic Millions picture will be moulded this weekend with the two horses who head the market for next month's $3 million 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast engaged to go around.

Magic Millions favourite Storm Boy runs in the $300,000 Group 3 B J McLachlan Stakes (1200m), while his Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained stablemate Straight Charge contests the first race at Randwick.

That 1100m event will be the first start for Straight Charge since the 1000m Breeders' Plate, which was run at Randwick on September 30, when he ran second to Espionage.

Straight Charge earned a 103 Timeform rating for that effort, despite defeat, which is among the top eight performances by a two-year-old for far this season according to Timeform.

The best was put up by Storm Boy when he won on debut at Rosehill.

The son of Justify earned a rating of 107 for that 2-1/4-length win over Traffic Warden, who franked the form with victory at Caulfield last Saturday.

The B J McLachlan Stakes will also provide a good measuring stick for one of the best local hopes in the Magic Millions, unbeaten Rockhampton colt Astapor.

That son of Tassort cruised home by almost five lengths on debut at his home track before a three-length win at Doomben, which earned a Timeform rating of 99.
