Coolmore Stud's late multiple champion sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells) broke Danehill's record for number of invidiual stakes winners on Wednesday, siring a stakes double at Chester.

Thoughts Of June (3 f ex Discreet Marq by Discreet Cat) became the 348th stakes winner for Galileo - surpassing Danehill's record of 347 - when she won Wednesday's Cheshire Oaks (Listed, 1m3.5f). Bred by Moyglare Stud Farm who remain in the ownership, the Aidan O'Brien-trained Thoughts Of June held on to score by a neck from the Joseph O'Brien-trained favourte Above The Curve (American Pharoah), with that pair well clear of Typewriter (Gleneagles) in third.

Thoughts Of June becomes the first stakes winner for her dam Discreet Marq, a Grade 1 winner in the US, who was bought by Moyglare Stud Farm for US$2.4 million at the Fasig-Tipton The November Sale in 2014.

Thoughts Of June's stablemate Changingoftheguard (3 c ex Lady Lara by Excellent Art) then provided Galileo with his 349th stakes winner later in the afternoon when he won the Vase Stakes (Gr 3, 1m4.5f). Under Ryan Moore, Changingoftheguard was never challenged to score a six and a half length victory over favourite, Godolphin's New London (Dubawi) and Aidan O'Brien said Changingoftheguard will now head to the English Derby (Gr 1, 1m4f) next month.

"We were delighted with the run and I think off the back of that, you'd have to say he'd go to Epsom now," said O'Brien.

Galileo has sired 92 Group 1 winners and five individual English Derby winners - more than any other sire - to date. Danehill sired 84 Group 1 winners, a number that Galileo surpassed two years ago when Peaceful won the Irish 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m).

He died last July at the age of 23.
