Proceeds will go to Ukraine and the Turkey- Syria earthquake appeal 

Tattersalls is supporting a charity auction in aid of Giving to Ukraine and the Disaster Emergency Committee's Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal.

The appeal originated from Stephen Byrne, a well-known equine osteopath at Back On Form Ltd and former horse transporter who has undertaken several supply convoys to war-torn Ukraine.

Newmarket-based bloodstock agent Oliver St Lawrence, chair of the Federation of Bloodstock Agents, brought the auction to life and has received 79 nominations from dozens of studs across Britain, Ireland and France by leading flat and jumps stallions. 

"I thought we might have a chance of raising a couple of hundred thousand but hopefully, if we can get the buyers in there, we'd be on course to raise a fair bit more," said St Lawrence.

"I'd been talking to Stephen about Ukraine but it seemed a fairly obvious thing to support Syria and Turkey as well, with the heart-breaking images we've seen there.

"There's never enough money to go round but hopefully it might encourage a few more people if they want to help. We've got the donors in, now we need to get people bidding."

Bidding opens on Monday, 20 February and closes on Tuesday, 21 February 2023. Please note, the Extra Time Rule has been reduced from 5 minutes to 2 minutes during the closing of bidding on each Lot. The sale (in British pound sterling) will take place without fees or VAT.
