On Monday, The Aga Khan Studs announced their 2023 mating plans with their resident champion sire Siyouni (Pivotal), set to cover another top-class book of mares.

Siyouni will cover 22 mares owned by The Aga Khan Studs including Zarkava (Zamindar), who has a Siyouni juvenile, named Zarouk, to represent her this year. Her daughter Zarka (Dubawi) will also be covered by Siyouni in 2023, as will multiple Group winner and Group 1 performer Ebaiyra (Distorted Humor).

Another mare to be covered by Siyouni this year is triple Group 1 winner Tarnawa (Shamardal) who is herself a half-sister to Group 1 winning juvenile last year Tahiyra (Siyouni).

At Giltown Stud in Ireland, leading sire Sea The Stars (Cape Cross), who sired four Group 1 winners last year, will be sent five mares. Those include Vaderana (Monsun), dam of 2022 Cartier Champion Three-Year-Old, Vadeni (Churchill). She will be joined by Zaykava, a stakes winning daughter of Siyouni out of Zarkava. Haparanda (Rock Of Gibraltar), a stakes winner from the family of dual Classic winner Harzand (Sea The Stars) will also visit the son of Cape Cross (Green Desert) this year.

After a strong start at stud with his first two crops to race, Zarak (Dubawi) will cover 15 mares belonging to the Aga Khan Studs. They include Group 1 winner Dolniya (Azamour) and her dam Daltama (Indian Ridge) as well as Group winners Ebiyza (Rock Of Gibraltar) and Emiyna (Maria's Mon).

Completing the line-up is Dariyan (Shamardal) who will receive some well-bred young mares from the broodmare band, including Kerasia (Zoustar), Minna (Le Havre) and Vedaska (Siyouni).
