Mozzarella scores over 800 metres at Riccarton on Saturday
Newgate Farm’s Capitalist (Written Tycoon) sired his fourth winner on Saturday when Mozzarella (2 f ex Parmalove by Snitzel) scored a good victory over 800 metres at Riccarton Park.
Trained by Nicholas Wigley and Kayla Milnes, the filly was last seen finishing fourth behind Avonallo (Belardo) in the Welcome Stakes (Listed, 1000m) on November 14. On Saturday, she led from start to finish to beat Mackenzie Lad (Vespa) by a length and a quarter in a time of 45.77 seconds, with Emanon (Burgundy) another two and a quarter lengths back in third.
Bred and raced by Inglewood Stud, Mozzarella becomes the first winner for Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) mare Parmalove who was bought by Inglewood Stud for $230,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale carrying Mozzarella in utero.
Her second dam is Group 2 placed Dehere (Deputy Minister) mare Love’s Here who produced Listed winning filly Liesele (Exceed And Excel).
Capitalist’s first crop includes five stakes placegetters in Sneaky Shark, Gleneagles, Forbest, Marine One and Mission Value. He now leads the first season sires table in New Zealand by earnings and winners and is second in the table in Australia behind Shalaa (Invincible Spirit).
Blistering win for our Capitalist filly Mozzarella - led from start to finish in the 800m 2yo race at Riccarton.
