The 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale starts on Sunday and opening day is highlighted by a number of well-related types.

Kulani Park is offering a half-sister, who is by Shalaa, to last year's Derby winner Hitotsu, who is by Maurice.

Hitotsu is favourite to add next Saturday's 1600-metre Group 1 Australian Guineas to the 2500m Derby crown he won at Flemington last November.

Hitotsu is one of only two to race from the Redoute's Choice mare Love Is Fickle with the other, Runyoo (Charge Forward), a two-time winner.

Hitotsu's half-sister is one of a number of well-related lots who are certain to be popular at this year's Premier Sale, which runs from Sunday to Tuesday.

The first will go through just four lots into the sale when Bhima Thoroughbreds offer a colt by Epaulette from the More Than Ready mare Juliet's Princess, which makes him a half-brother to Group 1 Surround Stakes winner Forbidden Love.

The Merricks Station-prepared colt by Fastnet Rock out of One Funny Honey, who is a half-brother to Kingsford-Smith Cup winner Vega One (Lope de Vega), and Blue Gum Farm's Mikki Isle x Palatine Hill half-brother to Australian Guineas winner Palentino (Teofilo) are among the other well-related types to be offered on Day 1.

There is also a three-quarter sister to Viddora (I Am Invincible), by Hellbent out of Snow Flight, being offered by Yarraman Park on the first day and a colt by champion Victorian stallion Written Tycoon out of Soorena.

That makes the Gilgai Farm colt a half-brother to Newmarket Handicap winner The Quarterback (Street Boss) and Octane (I Am Invincible), who set a Premier Sale record when sold for $1.4 million in 2017.

One of the headline lots on Day 2 is Lot 500, Yulong's filly by Lonhro from Erato, who is a sister to 2019 Blue Diamond winner Lyre.

Inglis's Victorian Bloodstock Manager, James Price, is thrilled with the 793-lot catalogue that has been pulled together.

"We are very lucky here in Victoria to have many of Australasia's best breeders, stallions and yearling preparers which are the foundation for this spectacular catalogue for the 2022 Premier Sale,'' Price said.

"The sale is always a great spectacle and it's a fantastic time of the year to be in one of the best cities in the world, Melbourne, so we are very excited for the sale.''

Selling at the Oaklands Junction sale ring will commence at 10am each day.
